Andy Serkis, playing the intelligent ape Caesar in the 2011 sci-fi action adventure, based the chimpanzee’s behavior on another chimp named Oliver. The voice was produced by mixing with Serkis’ own along with the sounds of fully grown male chimps at Chimp Haven in Louisiana. Initially, production hired a stunt actor to play Caesar but visual effects experts insisted Serkis be cast for the role and convinced production to do so. The actor was deemed perfect for the role as he had some prior experience of playing a primate, King Kong the ape in the 2006 film of the same name.

Can’t decide if Dawn or War is the best installment. Dawn is more action packed and has greater stakes for all characters. And War is more slower, but it’s more of a character study on Caesar and has greater tension with his tribe of apes.
