Watched this as a kid thinking it was a legitimate science fiction and I loved it. Rewatched it recently as a comedy as it was intended as and I loved it.

I still remember being an extra on this movie (I played one of the soldiers). Got to meet several of the stars, including Michael J. Fox (he's a genuinely nice guy in real life) and the director Tim Burton (also a nice person to work around.). I spent a week in the Northern Arizona desert working some of the Alien Ship arrival scenes and even got to play a tanker with some Russian tanks standing in for American tanks. It was fun, long days, and I watch it every so often for a good laugh.

I remember watching this movie way back when I was a kid and the only thing that I can remember are those weird brains of the aliens and them bursting human heads I think. I remember watching this movie bec of the brains😂

I remember how disturbing it was to me at least back then when I was a kid. It still has an impact on me. To this day for some reason if we ever encountered aliens this is exactly what I see happening

I was terrified by this movie when i was a kid. For some reason I would watch things that were not for my age and feel fine but I took a glimpse of it while my parents were watching it and it traumatized me for years. I don't remember a lot from it but the sheer mention of this movie reminds me how scared I was.
Meanwhile I would watch horror movies or violent movie and be completely ok

as a kid, was very entertained by this movie. now watching this featured in recapped, i can still smile and laugh about it. just feeling nostalgic.

The amount this terrified me as a child was no joke. For months I couldn’t sleep because I was much to young to have seen this. The dismembered heads were a prominent feature in my nightmares. I’ve since watched it and it’s not as scary as I found it as a child. If only that worked for the birds, watched it multiple times since, still terrified of birds.

You'd think after the first time the aliens just destroy and kill everyone leaving no survivors in the first meeting and then leave...You'd think that alone would say they do not come in peace, also launching nukes at them would've saved a ton of time and lives...assuming the device they had wasn't prepared.

When this came on tv when I was a kid, my parents thought it to be more like a kids movie(since the aliens looked so comical) so I was left alone to watch it. Lets just say I had nightmares for a long time..

That movie scarred me . I watched it pretty young and developed a fear for aliens for pretty much all my teen years. Watching the recap now, i still find those scenes disturbing even thought i know its a comedy movie
