Alex Honnold Climbed 3,000ft Without Rope…🤯⛰️

Alex Honnold made history by becoming the first person to free solo El Capitan—a 3,000ft near-vertical granite wall—with no ropes, no safety gear, and no room for error. Every move had to be perfect as he climbed one of the most challenging routes in the world using nothing but his hands and feet. Against all odds, he reached the top, achieving what many thought was impossible.

It is still insane how a human bring can climb 3000 feet without anything and having the strength and mindset to make it to the top without falling.

As a climber, I'd like to add more to this:

The route Alex took (Freerider) was graded 5.13a, very difficult and very impressive to do with ropes for even a dedicated and experienced amateur climber to climb for a single 100-150 foot pitch. This route was 30 consecutive pitches.

Most people who climb this route take 4-6 days (sleeping on the wall) and if we assume 12 hours of climbing a day, that is 50+ hours of climbing with rest in between. Alex did it in less than 4 hours.

Really, everyone gets this is an insane feat, but it is more insane than a lot of people even realize. Also I don't live in CA and don't climb big walls, so if any of this is misleading please forgive me. Great stuff though
