Keeping motors healthy for 6 years is quite a good job. The new motors looked amazing!

How many medium and large motors are good to have on hand for a variety of builds? My son and I have three large motors and one medium motor. I'm ordering additional parts and would like to get everything at once.

My hubby is a mechanical engineer, he would definitely take it apart. I also have a locked up motor. I will try to let you know the outcome.

I have exactly the same problem. Is there a way to fix the motors?

why not try out vex robotics and snap circuits

Is the rotation sensor still good? Then don't throw it away! There are several applications where the motor's rotation sensor can be used as a control device for the EV3: I use my dead motors (NXT and EV3) as controllers on "remote" units that talk to "car" units through bluetooth. So far I've only seen one rotation sensor fail.

I think I know what the problem is. I teach robotics for kids, and I use a lot of these motors. Some years have passed since we first bought them, and now it seems that several motors have stopped working. I decided to open one of the broken motors to see what was happening. I discovered that the motor brushes were broken, so I replaced the electric motor with a new RF-500TB-14415C motor, which operates at 6V. Now the EV3 large motor works again, but for some reason, it turns slower than with the original motor. I don't know exactly which motor model is the correct one, so I'm going to try the RF-500TB-12560 6V motor. If anyone knows the correct motor model, I would appreciate it.

We have had really good luck with Lego replacing broken pieces from the educator kit. Have never done a motor but did get a brain once.

Please don’t throw them out!!! The motor costs $4 to repair, and the gears aren’t available anywhere else. Use them for spare parts to fix other motors. Or send em to me and I’ll fix what I can out of em. I’ll do it for free if you pay shipping.

У нас тоже ломаются моторы ev3, но их можно починить, разобрав и заменив электрощетки внутри моторов. Будут как новые)
