No need to be intimidated by Rebecca, especially after your success with Jane Eyre!

Rebecca is one of my favourite novels! I think you’d like it, based on what I’ve seen of your taste.

You must read Rebecca! It is wonderful! I have Our Share of Night on my TBR.

I have the feeling that you’d LOVE Rebecca! It’s very gothic and creepy and perfect (in my opinion!)

I read Rebecca while slogging through the flu and was still able to really enjoy it. Very engaging, not draining or overwhelming at all. It was good medicine.

2666 looks so daunting but honestly ropes you in so quickly. The mystery and surrealism is so catchy. I actually found it easier to read than Savage Detectives.

I highly recommend Rebecca. 2666 takes some patience but I found it highly satisfying.

Rebecca is one of my favorites, and one of the first Gothic novels I read. It, along with Jane Eyre, secured my love of the Gothic romance genre when I was in high school. I HIGHLY recommend Rebecca! I think you will do absolutely fine with it; its predecessor, The Mysteries of Udolpho, was the tough (but still good) one for me to get through.

The Patricia Highsmith book is fascinating. The book is long but I read it one weekend.

Chunky books do intimidate me! You’ll be okay with Rebecca though. 😊

The Goldfinch is a 600 page book crammed into 800 pages!

Stephen King, when asked how he writes, says "How was the Great Wall of China built? One stone at a time, man, but you can see that muthaf*cka from outer space." One word at a time. Same for reading big, intimidating books..One word at a time. 😊 Rebecca is on my list, too. Maybe I should do a "50 before I'm 50" list!

I am reading Our Share of Night right now and it is fantastic. You can start with one of her smaller short story collections first which are equally great if you want to try her writing style first.

Our Share of Night is in my TBR (reading it in October/November). I decided to buy the book because I especially loved the collection of short stories by Mariana Enriquez - The Dangers of Smoking in Bed and Things We Lost in the Fire.

Jerusalem is one of those books that always sounds fascinating until I pick it up. Then I cower and decide to read something lighter and easier, like Finnegan’s Wake.

Jerusalem and 2666 are completely fantastic. I have Our Share of Night on my Kindle, as yet unread.

I'm still just getting into reading. I've read through 10 books within a few months, all of them excellent but I'm still intimidated everytime I get a new book. I'm worried I won't like the book or I won't understand the story to fully appreciate it.
I haven't bought a book I didn't like yet but I know one of these days it will happen but I guess every book reader goes through that at some point ya?

I read The End of Alice way too young, but I loved it. I reread it recently and I still the writer. It’s a journey. But it’s worth taking imho.
