IL Y A - How To Use THERE IS, THERE ARE and AGO in French // French Grammar Course // Lesson 13 🇫🇷

Il y a in French is the equivalent of "there is", "there are", but also "ago". It never agrees in gender and number but the verb avoir can be conjugated in different tenses such as imparfait: il y avait, or futur: il y aura.

Hi Dylane, I understand using Il y a in the present tense, but could you explain how to use it in the passé composé/imparfait please. eg: There was/were brothers and fathers in the room. There was a dog in the park. Also do you have a video explaining the pc ? Many thanks Wendy
