Pretty cool device. I put a combination of an "Ultimate lock" and an OnGard Door brace on my front door. That combo would give me a decent amount of time even if they had a police style battering ram.

One Idea I had if I ever make a true prepper compound is to have a false front door that is just a door inlaid into the concrete wall, that doesn't really open. LOL They could pound on it all day, try to pick the lock, whatever, nothing would work.

The real door would have to be hidden somewhere, or in the back, or something like that.

We have that exact same door with the mini blinds inside the window! I put some of that anti-theft film on the window and a double cylinder lock that takes a key on the inside (which my family knows is kept nearby, in case of fire, but it's really unlikely you'd want to go out this door in the case of a fire because it only leads to a balcony).

I do think I can find a use for a few of these! Thanks JJ!

I put exterior security storm doors on my house a couple years ago and I'm glad I did. Impact resistant glass, full steel frame. They were a little over $700 per door but since my neighborhood has taken a dive they sure give me a bit extra peace of mind. Good video!

JJ you should look into Door Armor. That product may run $75 but it took a warrant service team 30 minutes to penetrate the door. Granted, you have a door with a glass window 3M and others make films you can apply to make that window tougher to brake or even make it bullet resistant.
I'd definitely look into the Door Armor. I'd also look Mul-T-Lock Hurcular Deadbolt they seem to be rock solid and adding it to the Door Armor will have anyone trying to break in giving up and crying when the cops get there.

You could also replace the thumb turn with a key locking deadbolt

we have this for our steel front door. Great boost in confidence and does double-duty of keeping our 3 y/o from unlocking the door and walking outside.

In addition to the lock, I would forget the film, and I would recommend that you have Hurricane glass, that has a laminate sandwiched between two panes of glass.

We use this glass in Florida for hurricanes, and security purposes.

The glass must stop a 10' long 2x4 flung at 75 mph from penetrating the glass, and will stop low caliber firearms.

You probably should put in a new door that was designed to hold the hurricane glass.

Expensive but pretty impenetrable to most burglars, and storms.

The fire department has to carry diamond rotary saws just in case they need to breach a building or home with this type of glass.

I think I would be buying some security film for the window in your back door.  Makes it almost impossible to break the glass.

Looks like an effective extra bit of security! Thanks for showing us!

For about the same money, you could have put security film on your window. I have and use the Defender - they have them at Home Depot. Good product. Thumbs up. I installed mine below the doorknob to help protect from kick-ins.

I would have changed the latch deadbolt to a key deadbolt.

Interesting device, hadn't seen that one before... Thanks for sharing !

what I recommend is just replace the door with a similar door but have the glass in the new door be tempered glass and some sort of stain glass pattern in between the two pain so that it will be harder for the criminals to see in

It would be cool if they made something similar that could be set in the floor during the concrete pour

Looks much better than a chain or barrel lock.

Great video; how about installing one 20" to 24" above the floor? Hard to reach from
outside and increased security?

Great video and a cool device. I will be sure to share.

Have anyone try to install this in a metal frame door?

That is a really cool idea. Thanks JJ

How do you think it would survive a battering ram on the outside nocking?
