The Tree Felling Technique You’re Not Using | THE TRIPLE HINGE!

A quick triple hinge felling walk thru 🪵🌳👍 just something that we like to use when felling a tree with lean that’s in the wrong direction and you don’t trust a standard hinge.

Basically create multiple hinges so they break in stages, rather than all of your holding wood breaking at once. This allows there to still be something steering the tree as it falls. A little something we picked up from @logger_wade

It’s a bit advanced and there are something we didn’t have time to go over. But do your research and practice where it’s safe to do so. Be careful, felling is serious stuff.

So my understanding of the triple hinge is that it's for side lean - looks like this tree is side leaning but it wasn't said specifically in the video. Generally speaking I've heard of three approaches to dealing with side lean - make a wedge shaped hinge that's fatter on the tension side, or a standard hinge with sizwill in the face cut, or the triple hinge as you've shown here. One thing I've not understood well yet is when to choose one over the other. Are there situations where one is better than the other or are they all equal in the end?

By the way, I did a DIY removal using some of the things I learned from your channel years ago. Thanks for sharing what you know!

I really wish when people encountered leaner's they would drop them to the left or right of the lean instead of the way it wants to go. Anyone can drop a tree the way it wants to fall.

Tree went where it was always going..your method Didn't seem to pull tree to the left..
Overcomplicated what was an easy tree to redirect with different cut..just imo..
