ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.

The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

Pro Tools and Nuendo aren't the only ways to work with Atmos. Fairlight has a renderer built in now as well, and there's a few other DAWs that are supported with the standalone renderer. Although all of that is new as of the past couple months. You can also mix on lower channel count setups than 7.1.4, that's mostly a restriction enforced by distributors rather than a technical limit. I'm mixing with a 5.1.4 setup right now (with my Adam monitors which I love).

It still feels like it’s something that’s out of reach for most producers, and even listeners. It is more popular than ever, and I’d like to see it continue to grow, but the barrier of entry to not only produce ATMOS but also listen to it properly is a pretty hefty cost.

the vid in a nutshell: you will 100% be extremely poor after setting up to mix Dolby Atmos! go with the flow xD

There was a big peice of gear that was left out which is the *Dolby Atmos Rendering Mastering Workstation* or *RMU* which is a separate stand alone server that encode the digital streams. This is definitely a requirement if you are using a Windows PC or doing any serious Atmos mixing. You need a MADI or Dante interface that will interface with the rendering machine. You're going to need a monitor controller that supports 7.1.4 that connects to the rendering machine digital MADI outs or Dante. For Windows it will be a custom built Dell blade server computer that has the RME MADI PCIE option or the RedNet Dante PICE card. The Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite is bundled with the approved server.

Hi. I have the Apollo 8 interface. How can I connect so many speakers to it? I only connected 8 of them. Plus I got the monitor out to. That makes 10 of them. It’s anyway to conect more?
