As a Marine, you should know that after the battle the French renamed Belleau Wood to Bois de la Brigade de Marine ('Wood of the Marine Brigade'). This battle produced two of what I feel are the most memorable quotes in military history.
Marine Captain Lloyd W. Williams of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines to a French officer imploring the Marines to turn back: "Retreat? Hell, we just got here."
First Sergeant Dan Daly, a recipient of two Medals of Honor who had served in the Philippines, Santo Domingo, Haiti, Peking, and Vera Cruz, prompted his men of the 73rd Machine Gun Company forward with the words: "Come on, you sons of bitches. Do you want to live forever?"
Great reaction from a fellow sergeant (USAF E5) and keep rocking Sabaton.

I showed this to my father who was/is a Marine years ago when it first came out and he showed it to all his buddies that are still in or out. They all loved it.

“Semper Fi Marines!” You Devil Dogs deserve all the honor and respect from me, my family, and friends.

I'm so glad you have found Sabaton and that you are going through songs that a lot of reactors don't cover. Panzerkampf was the first one I heard from my son's "collection", regarding battle between the Germans and the Soviets during WWII (the rhythm is awesome). Another that is not as commonly reviewed is called Wolfpack and it's about the U-boats of the Battle of the Atlantic. So many options and all are pretty awesome.

I think the best way to describe Joakims' voice is commending. The kind of voice that you would follow into the battlefield.
I must admit that I smiled when you told the quote, knowing very well what was coming.😄
You mentioned the presence of scope and how more deadly the soldiers got to be with that instead of ironsight. With that in mind, I suggest you react to Sabatons song White Death. A song about Finlands' deadly sniper Simo Häyhä.

Very fitting tribute, I think. I was with the Royal Tank Regiment (UK Army) then eventually a crewman in the Challenger for a total of 7 years of service and 2 tours of Afghanistan. Remember when I was going through basic training My instructor at the time said to us, "If you get hit, you walk that shit off and keep fighting." 😂😂 still makes me chuckle

And the German reference for devil dogs was a creature that no matter how much you kill it it keeps coming. Because if there's one thing that dogs are there Ernest and if they don't die they're from hell

I Found this funny on that Original video, "Kill Fight die thats what a SOLDIER should do" People got pissed because the term soldier is usually used for us in the Army. but as Sabaton is a Swedish band, they use the universal meaning of Soldier

Try watching Sabaton Live in Dallas 2022. Southside Ballroom. This shows the "pre-show" short documentary about the WWI Doughboys, and how American soldiers helped end WW1. There's the quote, "Retreat Hello, we just got here., " but it's drowned out by the crowd chanting USA. About 1:40, there is the quote, "American resolve had ended the war, " What a strange experience, to have the Sabaton audience cheering the end of WW1 and being proud that Americans helped. Then the film shows cheering crowds from 1918, looking into the eye of the camera, and thus right at us. It was like a quick meeting of times: of celebrating with people from 1918, and we are all proud of being American, and glad that what we did was helpful to people.

Their Carolus rex album slaps so hard. The songs in both Swedish and English are of different POVs, Swedish is their view of the event and the English is The foreigners view of it. Should check out killing grounds, Caroleans prayer, and of course Carolus Rex. Great reaction

I KNEW you would like this song, when I heard that you were an Marine.
For your next Sabaton I recommend White Death. About sniper Simo Häyhä in the Finnish interwar during WWII. To this day still the sniper with most confirmed kills ever, over 500 (probably s lot more unconfitmed) and he only used iron scopes, refused a telescope.
To continue on the Finnish theme, A Soldier of 3 Armies, about Lauri Allan Törner aka Larry Thorn, from the same area as Simo fighting the invading Sovjet for the Finns, then with the Germans and ended up a Green Beret in Vietnam.
There are so many good Sabston songs to chose.
The guitarist of Sabaton Tommy Johansson also have a very good and successful solo channel where he covers a lot of good music of all kind of genres, turning them into metal. Amazing voice we don't hear in Sabaton, Joakim being the excellent frontdinger there.
For fun Tommy amuses himself producing what he calls Disneytons. Sabaton lyrics set to Disney hit music. Anything by Tommy is gold, but a great showcase of his range is to start with She's Gone by Steelheart.

For 4 years the Germans fought the same French and British troops when the Americans joined the Germans thought they’d be easy. Then came the Marines

Loved your reaction to this, and of course, thank you for your service (though I´m not an American, but a Finn) :D

They have a bunch of songs about American heroes, another great one is "82nd all the way", which touches on the story of Alvin C. York.

I just wanna say a mega HUGE thank you for your service and for reacting to this song by Sabaton. I remember when the 9/11 attacks had happened just two days before my 13th birthday and wanted to join the military to avenge America but I couldn't due to being mentally challenged but the least that I can do is honor those who have served and even more so for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and not go to come home again to their loved ones.

Sabaton really makes moving songs for me, and this ballad was no exception! I may have gone to Army basic, but I still have much love and respect for the US Marines - Semper Fi forever =u=7 Oorah!

To answer your question Marines with scopes leads to so many head shots in the battle of Fallujah that the Pentagon had to investigate.

The Germans did nickname the Marines Teufel Hunden (Devil Dogs). I learned alot of Marine Corps history doing 4 years of JROTC before ironically serving in the Army like all my family did dating back to WWI. Honestly, and this is just my opinion because the Marines throughout our country's history dominate the battlefield like every other branch does as well, But i think the WWI Marines were by far some of our greatest Marines ever. Thank you for your service Devil Dog and to all other Marines who have fought for this land of ours 🇺🇸
