The biggest issue I see is the lack of intake. I bet in most of these cases listed the issue was no to little intake. On the outside it looks as if the soffits are vented, but they are not. At some point someone put aluminum soffits over wood soffits without cutting holes into the wood soffit. And even if it was done correctly (only 5-10% of the time) they didn't install sufficient intake. I always recommend to clients to eliminate power vents. I think this issue is a bigger deal with power vents, but I could see it being an issue (to a smaller degree) with mixing Ridge and box vents.
