Should You Play as Edward or Emily in Alone in the Dark shows you which character to choose at the start of Alone in The Dark, and Does Male or Female Character Choice, otherwise known as Edward or Emily have any story differences?

Its bassically the same damn story! Wtf.
After they split up, They're both supposed to be exploring the house at the SAME TIME in different locations. (They're rarely in the same place at once) So why is it that after completing one character, the new character ends up going to the exact same locations and doing 95% of the same scenarios that the first character did? Why would i want to play the same game twice??

Devs should have made two completely different stories that periodically intersect. Instead they made a game that you can finish in 10hrs or less and expect you to play the same exact game all over again but this time with a different character.

They are the exact same story other than a few negligible differences, which you can just watch on youtube. There is no reason to play the game twice unless you want the extra collectibles or achievements and most of the achievements are literally duplicates. I played as Emily as it made more sense to me. She has an actual connection to the story. It was pretty fun, but the gameplay is not good enough to warrant a duplicate replay as a character that IMO makes no sense to be in the story other than historical reasons of him being in the series. Would've been a better game with just Emily.

You are clearly meant to play as the dude first, the playthroughs are basically the same thing but the girl is told what is going on basically from the start

or you can just play as one of them and watch the only different section on youtube. Or better yet, play something better. There are even indies in this genre done better like Despair: Blood Curse

I chose Carnby first, since he's the main protagonist of the AITD series, and I think it was the right decision.

The story isn't as well explained considering Carnby's walking into this situation blindly compared to Emily, but that made it easy to identify with him as someone playing the game for the first time. I'm learning about what's happening at the same time he is. Also, horror games are generally scarier if you don't fully understand what's going on anyway.

Now I'm playing as Emily, I can appreciate the storyline of her campaign more considering I've got the context that she does at the start of her campaign.

I'm so sorry because AITD is back again but the game is so boring, I thought the run with Emily was different, just like Infogrames did with AITD The New Nightmare but this time devs didn't care at all.
