Good ideas never die they say, Star Wars and cross Gen games prove that true once again. EA use some force magic to port Star Wars Jedi Survivor to last Generation consoles from PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and yes, the Xbox One. A game that struggled across all formats only last year. Can Respawn deliver the Return of the Jedi we hoped for?

Man, we called these consoles underpowered when they came out. The fact they still can keep up 4 years after it's lifecycle was suppose to end is beyond impressive. We've never seen obsolete consoles support the majority of main commerical games for this long. The PS2 was mostly only doing Sports games by this point.

I remember back in 2014 gamers deemed PS4 & Xbox One to be too underpowered (mobile CPU etc.) and said they would be outdated quickly.

10 years later the latest AAA games are being ported to PS4 & Xbox One with stable performance & good visuals lmao. Devs are working miracles with those Jaguar cores.

Thanks for the video. Thanks for all the good tech analysis. Seems like too many others rely on speculation for their content.

I've been waiting on a performance analysis on this game since it dropped. Thanks a bunch NX, your insights are helpful as always

All this game needed at release was a ray tracing on/off toggle. Could have avoided bad press because of lackluster performance on consoles back then.

Great video, great analysis! I was disappointed that Survivor didn't get a release for the last gen consoles back in the day. Now my Xbox One X will get a new game ;)

Bro really beat digital foundry to it 😂

I just picked up a cheap PS4 Pro in mint condition and am blown away at how good some of these games look. And sound. I still have a mid level PC w/ GTX 1060 6GB, and was able to play most of the non-exclusive games back when these consoles were current...but I wasn't playing them on a massive living room display up-res'd to 4K with HDR.

Calling it now: A big reason why these previous-gen versions were made, was to enable a Jedi "Double Pack" for the Switch 2.

Both Jedi games, £50-£60, taking advantage of the new console's inevitable DLSS features. Sounds like a winner to me.

1:54: "The temporal solution from UE4, TAAU"

Jedi Survivor is built on UE 4.26, which was the first UE4 version that introduced TAAU's successor, TSR. Not as refined as TSR from UE 5.4, but definitely a step up from TAAU visually.

Feels like we're gonna have a switch 2 port of this when the console comes out lol

Haven't watched your videos for years (sorry 😅), but I'm shocked by your subs count. I think you should shake things out.

Full version on disks, this is the way to go for me.

Hopefully free upgrade to ps5.

Great analysis, thanks.

I still game on my 1X and still love it. With both internal and external SSD's this console still holds its own. The first game made me go out and buy my external SSD and the game ran great with none of the issues that digital foundry reported and the situation is the same with this game in 2024 but this time i run the game on the internal HDD which is a samsung EVO 1tb SSD, no crashed no issues.
On the motherboard of the 1X is an outline for a NVMe SSD its almost like they where going to originally have it part of the hardware but maybe due to cost and already a $500.00 price tag just install a 5400 RPM HDD in any case the 1X is still in 2024 a great console that dont make you feel to left out with releases like this one.

@NXG when you see games like this running on much less capable hardware (minus RT GI and Reflections), do you think it indicates that some developers aren’t maximizing the current generation machines? Or is that an outdated way of looking at the two versions of the game?

Absolutely enjoyed this on PC but by god the technical issues in some cases are beyond repair and the Devs must have known this during development? The game is very good though in terms of gameplay, progression and how it keeps you interested throughout.

I think im in a weird space where i dont watch these types of content as buying decision makers rather for the technical look as thats whats most interesting for me. Played this on series x but id probably enjoy it just as much on my one s.
Cool channel though ill check out your other videos too

I realy do love this "impossible ports" to lower end hardware. And the good thing is that this version comes full on 2 disc and plays at 60fps on PS5 and Series X. Also, i feel this is a test to port it to the Switch 2
