Just saw Mastodon a few weeks ago. Been a fan for a few years and ya... What is so incredibly shocking is how they play incredibly complex shit all night without missing a single note. It's truly extraordinary. Absolutely love them. Not even a metal guy per se, but something about Mastodon just hits home.

Mastodon is other worldly. Particularly Leviathan but Remission, The Hunter, Crack the Skye and Blood Mountain are all pretty heavily layered

I love people with wide and varied tastes. I pride myself on having the same and find it normal for Bill Bailey to love Debussy, Mastodon and Mongolian Throat-Singing. It's NOT normal to stop growing as a person at 18 and spend the rest of yr miserable life flying only the classic rock Clapton/Beatles/Eagles flag. Most people are that way. To me, Meshuggah is as good as Simon & Garfunkel, Aphex Twin, opera or Throbbing Gristle.
