Is The BMW M4 Competition Convertible As Good As The Coupe?

Показать описание
The BMW M4 is a bit of a mixed bag. The driving dynamics are great, however, the looks are another story. Now enter in the M4 convertible. Does the extra weight in the convertible ruin the wonderful driving dynamics of the coupe?
BMW decided to ditch the hardtop convertible for cloth in the G83 generation of the BMW M4. And as a result they cut over 40% of the tops weight but even with all that weight loss, the BMW M4 convertible is still a heavy car. And generally, weight is the biggest detriment to performance driving. To combat that BMW have added torsional rigidity to the convertible but will it help?
The BMW M4 convertible is powered by the same engine as the M4 coupe, a 3L twin turbo inline 6 cylinder which makes north of 500 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The convertible is also equipped with all wheel drive, but BMW does allow for the option of rear wheel driving so long as you turn off the traction control. The M4 convertible isnt that slow in a straight line either, only a couple ticks behind the M4 coupe in terms of 0-60 time.
So, how does the M4 Convertible compare to the coupe variant. We're going to find out!
