If you look closely the building is not actually on fire. The windows are not even broken out. The fire is in front of the windows. It's either carefully controlled or CGI.

Theoretically, Milton would’ve been able to just stay home for 5 years collecting an Initech check until they noticed the glitch.
Then again...he was pretty much doing nothing there anyway until they did.😂
