This video is awesome! thanks for making things clear! I'm partnering with two guys (on two different startups) as a developer and, well, I've been looking into the best way to get paid.

Rule 1. Don't partner with anyone unless you've known them for years. Go it alone, work like hell and bring in people as you need them. You'll save yourself a load of trouble having to work with someone you hardly know and have no idea how committed they are.

"they have to earn it" is a good tip I got out of the video. Thanks Evan and I like your videos that are direct to the point without the BS.

Having been a lender to start up companies for many years, I really like this video. I wish all business owners would see this before bringing on a partner.

Here’s my take. I’m the one trying to enter in to a partnership. I’m watching the videos for the one I’m asking so I can jump on the questions before they are asked. Dude is backing my thoughts. This is a huge deal for both because nothing says if it becomes successful I won’t get the bone then. Huge risk for both no matter the relationship or tenure. Always have an out that can legally do just that. No hard feelings either way hopefully. Basically a business prenup

Hi Evan! Back in 2007-09 I had a business partner in the construction industry. We ended up having to dissolve the business because of the financial meltdown in the housing market. I've been speaking with him again and has been proposing to try it once more. The only commitment he is willing to have in the company is to provide funds, while not bringing in any physical labor into the matter. My question is what the proper percentage of partnership should he be entitled to?

1) my partner is more of an idea guy, but he said his parents want to indorse in it. he also has connections to the (future) buyers
2) it's a start-up business

Hi evan, I have a question. Let’s say there are three partner who had started their business with the equal share holding and than after 5 years, they have to add any new partner with the equal amount of share holding means all the four partners (three old partners and 1 new partner) will have 25% of the company. So how to decide the worth that what value that new member has to pay to the 3 old existing partner for getting 25% of equity?

Please answer this question
Thanks in advance.
