Wow the apparatus and decoration in the High school classroom are just fantastic and luxurious compared to mines back in Sichuan. It seems like Hangzhou is a whole another world.

One of my favorite channel. Like Austin, I have taught in Chengdu and I have seen him once at the south gate of SWUFE. I have moved to Zhuhai, time is flying.

Have not seen your videos in a while. Missed the interesting, informative honest style.
Bet you a favorite teacher amongst many students.

How did I miss this video? Was great seeing you! Enjoyed the tour. Hope you are well and would love to see some new content - although I'm sure you're a busy, busy man! 'Getting our adult on' has a way of consuming much of our time!

I saw from Twitter that you're not in the States. Would love to see a video of your journey from teaching into IT, and if you'll possibly return to China in the future.

Just started teaching back here in the USA at a public elementary school. Our school has a Chinese Immersion Program. It is great to see American kids learning Chinese at a young age. These kids in the immersion program are scoring high on exams and enjoying school life. The 5th grade class just got the highest math test scores in the district (the kids learn math in Chinese).

Your classroom looks pretty standard. The difference is that there is no Confucius poster in the classroom. All of our Chinese classes have Confucius in the classroom. It is a leftover relic from the Confucius Institute. I hope that the Confucius Institute will come back to America.

The schools are really struggling to find Chinese teachers and keep Chinese programs alive right now. However, our saving grace is that the demand for Chinese is so high because the kids in those Chinese classes continue to score high on tests and actually learn something. The Chinese classes in primary school push the students to study well, and the Chinese teachers are strict and will have high expectations.

I basically took all of the Chinese teachers' rules and expectations and apply them to my classroom. I never lower my expectations for anybody and I do not let students fool around. It is such a different world than teaching in China, but at least the Chinese program is a success. Keep working hard Austin.

So what were your reasons for changing from teaching English at universities to teaching at high schools? Any plans to go back to teaching university? What would need to change for you to do so?

Hi there, could you please explain what you need to do to live and work in China as an American? Do you need to be a college graduate or anything?
