Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised support in a meeting with leaders of 14 Pacific island states in Papua New Guinea.
The Indian leader arrived earlier to a special welcome from Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape.
Modi in his subsequent meeting with leaders of Pacific Island states assured cooperation in areas such as digital and space technology, climate change and environment protection.
The meeting took place in the shadow of China's increasing engagement with the Pacific islands economically and in security terms. Involvement that is being seen with wariness by the United States and regional ally Australia.
Modi used the moment to offer India as another partner in the region.

As a png India is wellcome to do anything we don't need bullying people. We need silent countries like India to develop trading partner. Not power hungry countries.

Everything is about one's financial strength; USA richest so has biggest influence then comes China. India is far behind but the scenario will change in coming decades. It's largely a long term plan.

After the Solomon Islands debacle the Blinken must have realized that those Pacific Islanders don't trust Australia 😃.

The history is repeating itself.

More than 2000 years back India had maritime control over the entire South East Asia.

Infact most if the SE Asian nations were ruled by dynasties originated on Indian soil.

And India achieved this just by using it's soft power.
There had been almost no military conflict.

India puts itself in an ambiguous political position holding both memberships in QUAD and BRICS. Not sure if this posture will last very long. 😩😩😩
