You just strung all the company commercials together. Why are *these* the top 5? Were they just the first 5 you could find premade videos for? How do they stack up against each other? Independent review?

I've got Topdon TC001. I wouldn't bother. Temperature readings are miles out. It gives you a relative colour picture of what your looking at as in if you're looking at 2 things on the screen, if they are different temperatures, they will be different colours. That's all you get, the actual reading on the screen are so far out that they are meaningless! If you connect it to your phone with supplied cable it doesn't work properly. After 10 to 20 seconds the left hand side of the screen turns orange indicating a warm surface. It does this regardless, even if what your looking at a flat surface of the same temperature. It's useless! Also basic instruction leaflet.

topdon is awful tempting. so what you have to pop off the cover. flir does not have a real video for hunting and recovering at long distance like over 30 yards. topdon shows what i was looking for. i don't get the cameras need their own short lived batteries. some use the phone battery. it appears they all seem to hold back or aren't transparent about the pros and cons. all they show is theirs is the best. yeah like I'm going to believe that doodley squat. why phone companies don't just put thermal in all phones is stupid. at least have a choice. that flir one pro video shows taking it apart and putting in a better battery. i say how about a 3400 mah for starts. just make the housing size to fit. duh. and the plugs too short to use the cover. its all damned if you do, damned if you don't on every thermal camera. you just can't get a real waterproof, durable, long battery lasting camera with top reviews. they don't exist. YET. i have all the time to wait and see when somebody decides to cut the bs and make a real thermal camera. right now you have to use an external power source just for longer user time. maybe a puppet camera with strings attached would be better.
