This really hit home. I lost my friend to suicide from bullying when he was only 17. I was 16 it has been 3 years but the pain of losing him is still there. If he just knew that life gets better and that there people that loved him. Please if you are getting bullied don't resort to suicide. Seek help to learn to cope and know that you have people who love you no matter what you look like or how you feel. Stay strong. R.I.P AJ

The real thing that needs to be taught is for people to stand up for OTHERS. It's not enough to just stand up for yourself, but once a bully gets a dose that his actions will not be tolerated among their peers, they have no choice but to back down. It's about standing together. That what it always has been about, and that's what it's about today in the real world as well. If people just decide to stop being bystanders and start speaking up bullying will stop.

It's amazing how hard it is for so many people in this world to grasp the idea that people being mean to each other is NOT inevitable, nor excusable. You can choose to be nice, to everyone, because an eye for an eye just ends up making the whole world go blind, as Gandhi once said. No human is beyond comprehension of being nice. EVERYBODY can change how they treat others.

"Be nice. Now." I'm sorry, but this isn't very good advice. Bullies are too primitive to change their primal habits, and being nice to the bullies themselves will only land you a mean noogie. No, in the jungle of the schoolyard, the only way is to fight back harder. First step is to visit /r/mma and /r/bjj in order to begin your combat training. Next step is /r/swords to master the art of weaponry that is the dual-wielding katana. Do as I say, and bullies will tremble just by hearing your name when you're through with them.

To all those people commenting saying this generation is weak and they need to build thicker skin. Go look up how many kids killed themselves due to bullying decades ago. It is a hell of alot more! Things are better and if anything kids these days have thicker skin than back then.

Jesus...stop pampering our younger generations. Teach them to stand up for themselves! You know what I did when I was younger? Told the little fucker to meet me outside so we can throw down. I didn't care if I lost, the point was to stand up for yourself, not show them love or rat them out to a teacher or parent.

If you want to help out someone who is being bullied, teach them how to fight. More specifically, teach them to finish a fight, not start one.

Bullying, is NOT new.

The only thing that is new, is everyones thin skin.

Afterwards (not only if death is the result but also when eventually your teacher will make it a topic in class when the person is still alive) it's always so easy to say "we didn't know", "we will always be there for you" "we miss you" "you are such a wonderful person" blabla and one week later it's just the same as always and the bullying continues. And through social media it's even easier to say platitudes without changing a thing.
Besides, it's so mean (and the first step towards accepting bullying or at least turning a blind eye) to say the person shouldn't be so sensitive or should learn to stand up for themselves. Sometimes it's just impossible and most victims will have tried to stand up for themselves ... and failed.

This is totally gonna make trolls nicer...  Not like they hate the world or anything... They should totally post an alert bar every time you click on a web browser that says: "Warning: Troll Danger, Surf at your own Risk."

"Be Nice. Now." is a little aggressive. I feel bullied.

From a once-bullied-teen to the world, it gets better I promise. I don't blame you for thinking it, I did too, just don't realize it.

As someone who works at a mental health facility I can say this is nice but when the very nurses that are supposed to help these people recover don't give a fuck and would rather sleep on the job then all this doesn't matter

I don't understand why some people are against victims fighting against their bullies. Ignoring or talking back to the bully doesn't always work and some bullies will seriously mess you up. I just noticed some commenters saying that all the victim needs to do is ignore the bully or talk back at them, and I think those two things are good to do at first, but if fighting is the only way to get rid of the bully, then I think it's alright since the victim is only defending him- or herself. It doesn't matter who wins or loses, but the bully is at least little more cautious about who he or she picks on.

Bullying problem over.

"Be nice. Now". Really....? That's the most creative slogan they could come up with?
