The Coolest Cars at the 2024 New York International Auto Show | Forbes

The 2024 New York International Auto Show may be smaller than in years past, but there’s no shortage of major debuts. Show-goers will find fresh machinery from Ford, Volkswagen, Genesis, Porsche, and more. Contributor Scotty Reiss (A Girls Guide to Cars) takes Forbes behind the scenes of the annual spring show.

The convention center’s lower level features an EV test track where you can catch a ride in the latest electric models. There’s a choice selection of classic and modern Porsches, and the usual set of exotics from Rimac, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini and other luxury brands. You can get up close with—and even enter to win—one of Robert Downey Jr.’s Dream Cars, and a 2024 custom Mustang GT designed by Sydney Sweeney is on display.

The 2024 New York International Auto Show opened to the public on Friday, March 29th and runs until April 7th.

I went to the New York Auto Show last week and was very disappointed to see that America’s Big Three, with the exception of Ford, didn’t show up. They were represented by local dealers who were given the most obscure corners of the venue to display their vehicles. This show was mostly an exhibition of how mighty the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands have become, as they dominated the show with the most innovative designs and products. With honorable mention going to Subaru for their extremely creative display of their new Outback. I was saddened to learn from a Toyota representative that their newest Land Cruiser was only available with two row seating. The weird part was seeing three rows of seats in the Lexus version of the same SUV. There was also a classic car show going on at ground level. It proved to be a lot more interesting. Depicting the direction of collector cars, (Japanese) as the baby boomers’ numbers dwindle.
