It’s the closest you can get to “return to monke” without throwing a sharpened stick

Any hunting is a rush, I wish people everywhere in North America could experience it. Knowing the meal your about to eat was brought to the table by your hand, is unbelievable.

My dad died when I was 13. He had just taken me to a gun shop near us to find me a rifle for deer-hunting. I was a really hard worker when I was set on something, and my dad knew it. He probably would’ve thought I was even possibly ready for an elk hunt. I absolutely loved elk. It would be my first time going. The previous months (and months following his death) I was so fired up about the prospect of going hunting, and I was so into it. I would watch videos, read books about ballistics and about wildlife, I would buy magazines, I would scroll the Vortex and LEUPOLD websites looking at some dream optics, going online researching the perfect rifle for me. And then he died. My uncle told me he would take me hunting, and I feigned excitement, but I think I knew deep-down that it would never happen. I still haven’t gotten my first hunting trip. I’m 17 now, so soon I can go by myself, but I don’t think I want to. I’ve lost all my passion for it. I wish I could feel this feeling alongside my dad.

For those who don't know, he was asked how often he goes fishing.

There’s nothing like having a 8-12lb bass slam your lure 😮

Absolutely correct! Joe is 100% right. Getting 15-20 yards from a magnificent animal versus 2-400 yards….yeah….nothing like up close and personal. God I love archery season!!!

I dont hunt for the "feeling", its about the meat. The launch speed of my arrows are 2900 fps

IMO: You Should Never Take Down An Animal For Sport. For Survival, Yes.

im sorry for your loss man, I lost my mom when i was young. Let me ask you somthing. If you were your dad and you promised your son a hunting trip and then died, wouldnt you want your son to still go? Bad shit happens man but hunting could be a beutiful way to remember and honor your father. He is always with you man as he is part of the wind and part of the trees now and he will be with you every step of the way on that trip I guarantee it. Maybe reconsider, if not for yourself do it for your dad. Im sure he would be beyond happy where ever he is knowing that he was still able to give you the gift of a love for the outdoors and hunting even if he couldnt be there physically to share it.

Shows how much experience he has. To remind all of you he goes on guided hunts. Anyone who has hunted elk that aren’t somebody’s pets knows they spook at anything so getting within 400 yards of them is a challenge as is

Hunting on a private ranch that’s stocked isn’t exactly hunting.
