‘Levant’s Engine’ is a short documentary that showcases the last operating steam-powered Cornish beam engine in its original location, underscoring the importance of industrial preservation for education and culture. Part English, part Kernewek (Cornish), it couples my passion for steam and British History, with my love for Cornwall and its mining heritage.
Sound Recordist & Gaffer - Matt Chapman
Featuring Nick Baker, Ron Smith, & Steve Pennington
Archive material from the collections at Kresen Kernow.
Poems courtesy of the John Harris Society, Performed in Kernewek by Tony Phillips; Bardh 'Gwandryas Pennwydh' (Cornish Bard 'Penwith Wanderer’).
‘Love Divine’
Words by Charles Wesley, Music by John Zundel
Performed by Roger King, Courtesy of the St Just Miners Chapel.
With special thanks to Nick Manley, School of Film & Television at Falmouth University.
