The gates of hell - do they really exist?

In Matthew 16 Jesus says that he would build his church on "this rock" and that the "gates of hell" (or literally: gates of Hades) will not prevail against the church. Which rock did Jesus speak about? And are these gates of hell a real place?

Pastor Sebastiaan van Wessem visited the real place in northern Israel, located in Hermon Stream Nature Reserve, also known as Banyas or Banias. Here are some of his insights!
