she has no cultural impact and no real importance for music. she’s just generic and famous, and that’s ok, but she’s not - and will never be - bigger than Michael Jackson.

When Michael Jackson was at his height of stardome he did not have:
No Internet
No social media
No YouTube
No Instagram
This was a time before the internet when people bought albums, CDs' at music stores. You physically had to drive there, wait in line and pay cash or cc. This was a time when people drove to the movies or watched movies on VHS inside their homes. You had to drive to rent movies. No personal computers. No smart phones. No social media.
Today, Taylor Swift, Yes internet, Yes social media presence on everything, you can watch movies online; even on your smart phone. Today, anyone can be famous; influencers having millions of followers on social media is common.
Madonna & Elvis are more successful than Taylor Swift No. 13 because they did not have advance technology like the internet, computers, social media as a pillar to support their music careers. Imagine if the Beatles had the internet in their Days? TS 13 would have been pushed to the side.
On the other hand, as a professional performer, as a professional singer, her concerts are EXCELLENT! She is a professional 100% yes! She is very talented.

MJ would have sold more of everything if he had an extra 3 billion people on the planet like Taylor swift. Access to everything is so much easier these days. Yes less to choose from back in the day. But great is great. They both would have done great then and now.

That's actually a crazy take some people spew these days saying Taylor is better than Elvis, Madonna, Freddie Mercury, The Beatles LET ALONE Michael Jackson. She's not as "BIG AND BETTER" as some think.

People need to stop comparing Michael Jackson to everything under the Sun, including Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift is average in all aspects of music. Nothing about her screams “I'm the best at what I do”. Taylor Swift is popular but nowhere near Michael Jackson's popularity at his peak! STOP WITH THE CLICKBAIT! Been there, Done that!

People fail to realize that literal grown adults literally fainted when Michael stood STILL for 2 minutes on concert

I don't even know any Taylor Swift song. Maybe the young ones but sorry she needs a Thriller, a Billie Jean, a We are the World, wtc etc before you can compare her to the greatest.

How you celebrities think you're smart. The one Michael Jackson performed in was demolished, it was rebuild in 2007 with over 900 more seats added including another level. It's not the same building Michael performed in

First and foremost, I do R.E.S.P.E.C.T. every Taylor Swift fan in the world (and Taylor herself). Plus, I'm sure she deserves all the success she's achieved and the praise she gets. BUT Michael Joseph Jackson STILL holds the record (according to the Guinness World Records) for "The Most Successful Entertainer of All Time". MJ was originally called "the true King of Pop, Rock and Soul" by iconic actress Elizabeth Taylor in 1989 — who later said "King of Pop" was too limiting for him and that he should be called "King of Entertainment" —, a title which he earned after decades of extreme hardwork, artistic excellence and unprecedented sales. Michael said multiple times he "did not remember not performing", as he'd been doing since the age of 5. During his childhood and adolescence, he didn't celebrate his birthdays nor Christmas, he didn't know any children he could play with other than his brothers and sisters... he only knew work (studio sessions, live concerts, TV programs) and loneliness. He was constantly bullied and beaten by his father in order to get some singing notes and dance steps right — and, if he did get them right, he'd witness his father threatening his brothers to do it the same way. Michael Jackson not only survived a very dark, painful and lonely childhood, but he was strong and powerful enough to become the world's brightest star. He broke centuries-long racial barriers, he faced SO MANY lies and SO MUCH pressure (from the media, the public, his father). Yet, he is the one to own the best-selling album of all time worldwide ("Thriller", 1982), he is the best-selling solo artist ever (the 2nd overall, after The Beatles). He is known in most of the world by basically EVERYONE (go on and search for "tribal people react to Michael Jackson" and you'll see most of them knew at the very least his name before). Back in 2007, "The Guardian" published an article ("How Billie Jean changed the world") stating that, at his peek, between 1983 and 1989, "he was so famous that if you cut his fame in half he would still have been eight times as famous as the next most famous person, whoever that may have been". Also, sources from CNN and BBC claim he then had around 4.8 BILLION fans worldwide. However, Michael Jackson is much larger and bigger than a few numbers: he completely changed the lives of numerous people, he is the one artistic to have donated the biggest amount of money to charity throughout his life, he SAVED the Super Bowl Half-Time Show in 1993 and turned it into what it is today, he created the contemporary concept of what a music video is ("Thriller" was the first music video to be added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, due to it been considered "a significant element of our cultural patrimony and history"). MJ influenced almost all of the Pop artists who have been at the top of charts after his peek (Usher, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Will.I.Am, Chris Brown, The Weeknd...). In a time when people couldn't just simultaneously stream something online — they had to be interested enough in something to manually tune their TVs to a specific channel —, MJ's live interview with Oprah in 1993 had an audience of 300 MILLION people worldwide, plus his music video for "Black Or White" was broadcast for a global audience of 500 MILLION people at the same time, in 1991. MJ is so iconic he has symbols of his own: when you think of the moonwalk, or the fedora, or the sparkly gloves, or the black loafers, or the "Thriller" jacket, or the multiple spins, or the toe stand... all of that imagery immediately makes almost anyone think of "The King of Pop". Besides, he was one of the MOST SKILLED artists in music history: he could sing perfectly on pitch (take a look at the recording sessions of "We Are The World", which he co-wrote, by the way), he could dance like no other (whether it being choreographed or whether it being just freestyle improvisation), he could beatbox so precisely that he would show exactly how he wanted musicians to play their instruments in his records just using the sounds he made with his mouth (beatboxing), he could write so beautifully that his lyrics would raise awareness regarding some of the most important and critical issues on the planet and would create such a HUGE impact on anyone's life just by reading them. Michael Joseph Jackson will go down in history as the most significant name in Pop Culture. His legacy will live on FOREVER as the most influential and relevant in Entertainment. And, when it comes to music, I always say: The Beatles may have created the game, but MJ totally redefined its rules so that others (including Taylor Swift) could play. #GivePeaceAChance #MakeThatChange #HealTheWorld

I mean she’s getting to the same level of FAME but not in CHARISMA and CATCHY songs, but she’s probably gonna be at some point. Let’s just hope she doesn’t ends up like Elvis and Michael. Lionel Richie once said, the artists who have become billionaire, don’t get to die of old age. I’m not a swiftie but I wish her the best
