I'm day 3 as a electrician apprentice. They do not like to hold your hand. I installed 10 pot lights in a bathroom with zero experience. Getting paid way less than my other job ( for now) but the difference is I'm loving it.

I literally have the exact same story. 27k in loans, The life was slowly being sucked outta me at my 9-5, I started feeling like a robot going to work every day 🤮🤮🤮. Now I’m a first year apprentice and really liking it. Good luck on your journey ❤️

Hi! I'm also 5 ft tall and 100 pounds on a good day, and this video was exactly what I needed. I have known for a while that I am a person who likes to work with my hands. College is not for me, but I gave it my best go simply because my family wanted me to. I got lots of cringes and concerned faces when I expressed potentially going into a trade. I began to doubt myself too, because after all I am a small girl. But now I know that it is possible. Thank you!

I totally feel this. I am currently a hairstylist and actually don't like it. I love being in the trades because I like to work with my hands and be active but I dislike working with clients and such, plus its absolutely no money for the amount of work. About to start my pre apprenticeship in January and your videos are totally motivating me! Super excited, I'm also a smaller woman and the stigma is huge but I'm pumped to be in STEM again!

My dads an electrical contractor here in California. He has a ton of work and I have no career and things are getting crazy out here in California. I asked him one day if being an Electrician as a woman would be really hard and he just said yes. Ha jackass… I’ve always loved working along side my dad even with his wild temper he is the smartest person I know. He is still doing a lot of the work even though he is a contractor because finding good electricians is hard out here. I’m really considering going into the trade I have always loved the hands on projects and would love to take over the company one day. I’m glad I found your channel.

I’m in the same place right now. Hated all my jobs after college but I really thought things would be better at my current job since it’s at a tech company that would be considered quite prestigious. Didn’t make a difference. Working from home isn’t worth it, decent pay isn’t worth it. I just want to work hard and actually do something instead of stare at a screen.

I love this! I did plumbing at college during Covid and I'm now stuck in a retail job, I'm so done, so I need to find a property related job and just dive in!! :) I'll probably now binge watch your channel too! Thank you! It's so hard to keep motivated as a female with even my head of department at college telling me to be a teacher because its cleaner, or to do maintenance like painting instead of plumbing!! I tried to get an apprenticeship at 16 but girls defo didn't do that in 2004!! 20 years on its not much different in the UK

Started a pre apprenticeship and it's very boring to me. I like learning so I will try and stick through it but I really love working with people, animals, just building rapport with people in general. I might get into selling insurance, vet school, or something related to my passion which is working with others and dealing with the public. It's tough because I always wanted to work with my hands because dad instilling it into me, to be a man. However I think I should save up some money with this apprenticeship and get the ticket and then do what I want. Just not happy with being alone everyday and not seeing happy customers and talking with them. That's why I love doing moves and doing lawn care for people on my spare time. Get to see smiles on people's faces and hear some stories. Not bashing the trades but I feel like it isn't necessarily my calling. I always avoided customer service/health because I was told to be a man and use my hands/ tools, but I feel my purpose in life is to serve others. Kind of bummed out to be honest that I feel this way but it is what it is.

At 42 this Fall, I should find the funding to attend trade school for Electrician. I have never felt so confident about my decisions until now. I raised my boys to 21 and 11. It is my turn. And I want to share it on my YouTube channel. What do you think?!

hey Jess! you may not see this, but i wanted to comment anyway. I’m in my senior year of high school right now and i’ve recently been watching pretty many youtube vids from you and other electricians/apprentices on here. I still have no clue what I’m going to do after I graduate next June, but after working an 8 to 4 office job all last summer, I never want to again if I can avoid it- it was so soulsucking. Glad I had the experience but not looking to repeat it. I also don’t love the idea of going into debt for college just for the sake of saying i went to college. It would be one thing if I had a specific path I want to pursue, but I do not. So, I’m looking at other paths, including this one! I know it wouldn’t be easy, but it seems much preferable to my other options, and I might end up loving it, who knows! The idea of a job that lets me move around and make things work while paying well (eventually) is really appealing, especially in contrast with sitting at a computer, or something in retail. Anyhow, I’ve got a ways to go before I figure things out, but just wanted to thank you for making this channel, and as a woman, show me that it’s possible. You’re so cool! :)

It's amazing. One of the first things I thought when I got to the part when you had just quit your old job, the first thing that came into my mind was wow she looks so much better now. Healthy mind, healthy person. Hope you enjoy the journey 👍

25 year election. Good for you! I don’t know if I’d have been as brave as you were to step into the unknown.
