I really enjoy and appreciate these combat videos. I think they do a good job of demonstrating how tense and dramatic fights emerge naturally from the mechanics in GURPS.

One of the best options (at the usual tech levels for fantasy settings) for a backup non-magical ranged weapon is probably a sling and a few stones, or a set of throwing axes if you're not going to have the room to swing a sling. Plumbata are also a good one, given how long the Romans used them.
