YouTube definitely loses a bulk of money every year. It is still surprising Youtubers get paid for making content.

Don't forget that your YouTube paycheck also depends on the demographic of your channel because companies tend to pay for ads less in YouTube for underdeveloped countries. In other words, an American or European viewer's view has more value than a viewer from, like Malaysia or Indonesia. There's a list out there of the value for each country, but I forgot the proper terminology for it.

When I log into Youtube on my phone (almost never) shorts are OK, but when I log in at a desktop resolution I REALLY WISH I could remove them from my homefeed. I shut them off, but because my browser does not remember cookies or history between sessions, they're back the next time I log in.

Why can't they be a settable preference in the settings menu ?

Why are YouTube shorts in portrait aspect anyway ? (oh ya, phones) Google, look at my resolution, if it is HD widescreen or greater don't show me portrait formatted shorts. AND fix them so they don't accidentally scroll constantly. I don't dare even touch the mouse.

Its better this way because you choose to watch long form video and therefore the creator gets more money while shorta are just blasted to you have no choice so it makes sense that they pay less
