An 88-year-old Japanese man was acquitted of murder nearly 60 years after the crime. He is said to have spent the world's longest time on death row over wrongful conviction. Hakamada was accused of murdering four people in 1966. Hakamada spent 45 years on death row. In 2014, a court ordered his release and a retrial over doubts about evidence. The former boxer was accused of stabbing his former boss and family to death and torching their house. He was wrongfully convicted in 1968 and was given a death sentence.
