This Katrina Velarde reaction is genuinely my first time ever hearing them perform at all; let along hearing this particular performance of "Go The Distance". Impressively exacting in her delivery. Nicely done!

Great reaction - Katrina Velarde is a vocal beast and not only that, she is a superb songstress and technical master singer. She should be an international superstar, household name. FTR, I am a retired professional music critic with 45+ years experience. I saw Whitney, Celine, Mariah, etc., live, in their Apex elite prime and Katrina is a match for all of them.

You are about to discover the beast which is Katrina Velarde pronounced, Vee-larrr-dare.
This performance is easily 6/7yrs old already, and does not begin to capture the exponential growth into what I in my humble opinion believe has to be an elite vocal athlete.
I could recommend one of her latest performances to a Philippino classic called "Araw Gabi", which encapsulates just how far she's come, but maybe you should go through her extensive catalog of "One take cover sessions" so as to go on a journey in chronological order.
I've seen many in the comments mention her Whitney Houston Medley. If you do that, or her less requested but almost equally as good Beyonce Medley, please make sure the Medleys you review, are the ones from the Metrowalk. It must be from the Metrowalk!
She also did Xtina's version of the soundtrack to Mulan "Reflections", which is yet another mind blower.
Her Mariah Carey stuff is what separates her from many a good singer, because of her incredible Melismas.

A short background of Katrina Velarde, yes she is amazing! She has a wide vocal range, from as low as c3, c#3, d3 to as high as c7 or d7 on the whistle region. I think the latest is that she upgraded to as high as eb8, my goodness, this is already a tweet of a bird! She got lung power, agility, and dynamics. She was declared champion in the "Hashtag Like" singing competition sponsored by GMA Television last 2017, yet landed second in "The Masked Singer Pilipinas" singing competition, sponsored by TV5, last 2020 or 2021.

Katrina is influenced by Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion from the foreign side, while heavily influenced by Regine Velasquez (The Queen) on the local side. 

She can imitate Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Ellie Goulding, Celine Dion, Jessie J., Shakira, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, etc. A very versatile singer, the reason she is often called a vocal chameleon, yet she has her own singing style.

She usually does a Houston flip! Although she has her own exclusive singing style, yet when she does a cover song, a Whitney signature flip can be heard. On some occasions, the Aguilera long belt is audible. She developed this hybrid type of singing, mixing different styles of singing and producing it on her own. But definitely, Houston has a bigger proportion of influence in her singing style. She can impersonate many top-calibre singers here in the local scene and abroad but has her singing mixing style in which she alone can do it.

In today's generation in the Philippines, three (3) major power belters are being looked up to by Filipino music enthusiasts and general music fans. They tagged them as the "Vocal Trinity" composed of Katrina Velarde, Morisette Amon and Jona Viray. However, Morisette and Katrina seem the two top contenders, in my own opinion, having their large fan-based community of fanatics. Moreover, Morisette and Jona seem to have received an ample amount of exposure on TV shows, while Katrina doesn't have much of that entitlements and opportunities hence, under-rated. Yet Katrina is being recognized and appreciated by lots of music reactors on YouTube because of her unique singing style. She has a lot of acrobatic songs for you to enjoy.
