The year is 2060, the Toyota Camry has 640, 000 miles on it and still starts first time and sounds and performs as smooth as silk. In the meantime Matt has been through 26 Land Rovers, all needed mechanical repairs of some kind.

90s Japanese cars truly are a special era of motor vehicles.

Thought it was just me as a 23 year old that had a strange obsession with these Camrys

I think Toyota UK have missed a trick to corner the market in Wales with an exclusive model - the Toyota Cymru.

My dad had an estate version of the 2.2 Camry automatic in this colour .
Never broke, never failed, it just ran and ran.
He got bored, traded it in, had various cars and one day in hebden bridge it was parked up on a street, looking better than ever.
We talked to the guy who bought it from the trade in garage, he had it 9 years since my dad traded it.
He said a wheel barrow of money would not buy it back from him.
Never forget the regret my dad had for letting it go.
Out of all the cars he had, that was his legend.
Had he still been here, I would have bought him this.
Thanks for bringing back fond memories.

My 89 year old uncle bought one of these new in 1998 and he still has it!

In the United States, these are literally everywhere chugging along and refusing to die unless they are written off in an accident.

The simplicity of 90s cars is something to behold. I really wish car manufacturers went back to this.

Here in Qatar, this model of Camry was everywhere in the 2000s and every Camry since the has become the saloon car of choice (although these days, they get a decent run for their money from Kia with the K5 (formerly the Optima) and the Hyundai Sonata). These 3 cars are the weapons of choice of taxi drivers which tells you a lot about reliability and durability. The Camry in particular was ubiquitous. As a point of interest, in the Middle East, we got a V6 version called the Toyota Aurion which was built by Toyota in Australia in right hand drive and also in parts of Asia in left hand drive for sale here. Ostensibly a Camry with the V6 engine, it was sold as a more luxurious option over the Camry. Nerdy fact for today.

Toyota engines are incredible, they get better as they get older. Lovely car.

my bro, back in the Czech Republic, still has a 1989 Toyota Carina II. 2L, 16V petrol. All electric windows, electric sunroof. She runs like a new.

I don't normally like Japanese cars, but that is a stunning car. The colour and the fact it has character. Nicely done Matt.

Car Wizard in Kansas USA, praises the Camry for being one of the World's most reliable cars, so much so, that both of his Children have one each!

As soon as I heard that next base dash cam sound and noticed the fact its using the hard wire kit, just the same as my car it gave me feeling that this must be someone that cares.

I had a 2000 Camry that was handed down to me by my family in 2009 - So it was already 9 years old when i got it. I drove it for 1 year before selling it as i was moving countries - it was BULLETPROOF. The guy who bought it is a distant family friend and i caught up with him a few months ago - they still have it as a spare run about! Its 24 years old and its still works fine. It's bonkers.

Waltham Abbey, you were about a mile from where I work. Love 90s Japanese cars, especially Toyotas, solid & reliable.

The Autotrader crew are going to be saying, “WHAT IS GOING ON?! Toyota Camry is going mad. Must be a glitch.”

Gosh I remember in my first job 40 odd years ago, one of the directors had on of the earlier Toyota Camrys. It to me as 16 year at the time didn’t look much, until I had a ride in it. Very smooth and luxurious inside, I was very impressed after that! Understated.
