This video demonstrates the learning process as I tinker with Op Amps (operational amplifiers). I describe an overview of this (not-currently functional) project using the LM358 Op Amp, which amplify the signal from a electret microphone, and use an envelope follower circuit. The second part of the circuit uses a resistor ladder and LM324 Op Amps to set up thresholds for a series of comparator circuits. These assess the sound intensity and determine how many LEDs should light up. Modifications are discussed and hopefully part 2 will have the demonstration of the fully working VU meter.
