How do you write a good script for a short marketing video? You need a script, to avoid making really boring videos. In this video, I tell you how to create a clear script in 5 steps for a short powerful video you will be proud of and that also gets you lots of new followers and viewers.

Leave your camera for now, and first grab pen and paper, or your computer. Because a good video starts with choosing. You can't cram everything you know into one video. Just give very small pieces of information in your video, so you don't overfeed your viewers and scare them away. You can choose what your message is for this video. Then, start with

Step 1:
Determine the outcome first: if you ask a viewer after watching your video: what was it about, you will notice something. Your viewer will summarize your entire video in 1 sentence. So make sure you are giving information the fits into 1 sentence. Decide: what is it that want to say in your video, in 1 sentence?

An example from a video of mine: Do not listen to your kids when they criticize your video

Or: if you use a method or model for your coaching, don't tell about it in your videos.

Just write that one sentence with basic message of your video down. What is the drift your viewer should get?

Then we start writing in step 2: An engaging start to a video guarantees that your viewer won't drop out right away but will stay until the end. Whatever you do: don't start with: hello, thanks for watching, but get straight to the point. So make the first 2 sentences catchy. Check out this video because there is already one idea for a smart way to start your video. This will be about 2 lines of text.

Then step 3: introduce yourself briefly. Because you never know how people will find your video. And because we do marketing - your viewer needs to know who went to the trouble of making such a valuable video. Again, 2 lines of text is enough here.

Then step 4: that's the longest and the easiest part of your script. This is where you share your knowledge, or tips, or ideas. Just elaborate about what you wrote down in step 1. This is a subject you know a lot about, so take your time. This part can be longer, about 10 to 20 lines is enough for this.

And then step 5: your call to action. |Here you invite your viewer to take the next step. You get to choose anything. Write a comment. Or buy something. Go for a walk, as long as you suggest something and don't just stop talking. So: what do you want your viewer to do after your video? Write that down. That's another 2 lines of text, maximum.

So this is the order of your ideal marketing video script

1. Strong start
2. Introduction
3. What you want to tell
4. Call to action.

Then you have a script, and you can almost start shooting your video. Leave your camera off for a while and first read your script out loud 10 and after that, record the video in parts.
