Buying a new RV soon? I can help you find a great, honest RV Dealer that will give you a fair price and a SUPERB buying experience. FYI, no. I don't make a commission or receive a finders fee if you purchase from them.

Hmm. I'm not sure I understand what is going on here. I see a dealer stock number as an internal dealer tracking number, as separate from the manufacturer. I assume that the VIN number doesn't change - it can't, not legally anyway. Encoded into the VIN is the year it was manufactured. However, if in some way the dealer tries to say that a 2022 RV suddenly gets labeled as a 2023, that's impossible, that's fraud, pure and simple! There should be criminal charges brought against the dealer!

A stock number is just a number used by the dealer. In one respect, Alan used the same "stock number" year after year (and possibly some of those "stock numbers" got upgrades, or had price changes) in his campground. Only difference is they were campsites, but it was a way for him to keep track of which ones were in use. Does that sound "fishy"?

The VIN number is how you want to track an RV or vehicle. That number can not change.

every on-road vehicle must have a V.I.N. it's the 10th character in the 17 character represents the vehicle model year. Do they also change the year on the Title?

I have kinda been forced to buy a RV, Hurricane damage to house, probably for up to 6 months or more depending on insurance company, but all in all I'm glad I found this group, if I enjoy the RV I might be getting another one and trade this one in, maybe keep this one, might prefer something shorter to travel with, but the information you provide is priceless, can't wait to just look at some and test the salesperson for honesty and knowledge.

I recently purchased a trailer and after I got home I discovered the axles were put on upside down, I called the dealer and they did make it good, they told me to bring the trailer back and they swapped it out for another one, so my concern was about the title, I was told to not worry about it because the frame is not stamped all they do is put this little sticker on it so they just went and got me another trailer it was identical to mine who knows what year it really is and they stuck a sticker on it and called it good, therefore they didn't have to do any title change cuz it already been filed, as a previous person wrote there is nothing that governs a trailer like the automotive industry does for vehicles

What is the purpose of a dealer stock number? It’s not a vin. Isn’t it an internal number for the dealer to keep track of their units? You should have asked Kevin

more importantly is to compare the VIN numbers. Stock numbers are not the determining factor in identifying a specific rv. It is an internal number determined by the dealer.

We bought an RV at CW in 2017. We looked at the RV we wanted and took pictures. After taking delivery and several months later we noticed that what we picked up was not the same RV we looked at and decided to buy. This was based on decals on the RVs. Seems weird. The RV had the same features, but was not the same. Did not pursue this with the dealer as we won't step foot there. Another story...

Why do you have to have my phone # to download your spreadsheet?

Don't rv's have VIN numbers? If so the manufacturer date should be called out in the VIN.

I believe it's been happening for years

Great work to those who busted this Snake Oil salesman.

Frustrated because I want to buy an RV for retirement, in 2 years, so doing homework, and just feel terrified at getting ripped off or endless problems. I appreciate the reality so at least we go into this with realistic expectations, thanks Wingman!

The body of RV year is based on the time of registration in some provinces of Canada. I had this happen to me.

I'd like to sign up, but I don't want to put my phone # in. I did this once with a Youtuber that I thought I trusted, and it raped my phone of Spam Calls. I ended up having too change my phone #.

The chassis could be a 2022, but the coach is a 2023 model. I don't trust General RV. I was disappointed the "Matts RV Review" went back to General RV.

Let me guess, 🤔um, camping world??? It’s the only one we all hear… about the unhappy customer, year after year lol.
Hate email, don’t pay any attention to news letters as email is so bogged down now with every utuber having to do a Newsletter too. -sorry pass. 🍻

I have purchased from a dealer where the sales staff are NOT on commission. No pressure. They will help you if you want or just let you look on your own. It was a great buying experience.

Looks like need to record serial numbers to ensure same RV when you come back later to look at. Certainly shady.

I had that happen on a new boat I bought at The Chicago Boat Show. It was not noticed until the registration process, when registering the part of the VIN which indicates the date, had been over-stamped with the subsequent year designator making the boat "next years'" model. While this "upgrade?" did not impact my purchase decision or enjoyment of the boat, and the over-stamp was done by the manufacturer (stamped into the fiberglass hull) not the dealer, it was sloppy, shady, or both. No real regrets though.
