That was strangely therapeutic and satisfying. I love rummaging around in old drawers and going through stationery and art supplies. Thanks for sharing!

I hope you don't throw away those technical pens. We use to use those for mylar (your generation calls it yupo) drawings. They produce very even line widths. The different widths are for various types of lines like main, hidden, etc.
It was fun looking at all the old packaging. Arch/Engr tool packaging was so minimal. I work in 3D modeling now but I still revert back to my old drafting tools to sketch my way out of difficult situations.

A bit of a random concept but I hope you enjoy seeing the supplies I came across. Thanks for watching 😊

The red curly fastener/book-spine thing is a GBC fastener. You need a special dohickey with a bunch of L-shaped arms, into which you insert the thingy with all its curls, then pull a lever and it opens them all out. You thread your papers (which you've punched with a bunch of rectangular holes using another specialized dohickey) onto the opened curly-things. When all your papers are threaded on, you release the lever, the spine-thing curls back up and you've got a bound book. I used one of those at work sometimes, back in the 80s.

The gummed reinforcements were for sticking on the holes in your 3-hole-punched binder paper, to keep papers from falling out of your binder if the holes ripped through. I had a box of those in 7th grade because my 7th grade social studies teacher said she'd give us a zero for the day if she saw papers falling out of our binder. [eyeroll] She was weird in more ways than that, and her contract wasn't renewed the following year. But yeah, that's what those are for. I don't imagine your dad used them once he was done with school. :)

omg! the old markets, I relate! About seven years ago I was given a HUGE box of old Prisma Markers! I couldn’t even find them online, but they did smell so strongly and so not fun. Awesome video tho!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Those blue ball point pens... My Dad worked as a bread delivery man and had a HUGE stash of these pens. Like dang skippy... What's with our Dads and those pens?

Those rapidograph technical pens can be cleaned up and refilled. They are so expensive now, it would be worth it. My husband was in architecture school around the same time it looks like. When you pulled out the Design markers I had a real flashback to that smell. I think another commenter had it correct - they were xylene based. Just awful. Such fun watching you unbox these.

It looks like they’re rapidograph type pens! I just got a modern set of those.

The Faber Castell green boxes are leads are for a Faber Castell clutch holder pencil. They are still sold.

This was really interesting! Those old Pantone markers look amazing for the age. I also inherited one of those little tubes of Pentel mech pencil leads from my engineer dad, their design really is eternal :D

This was awesome, I hope you're able to have lots of fun with those supplies! My dad had gave me some of his old supplies when I was a kid, way back before I really understood the value or purpose of them. Now I make sure to never get rid of any art supplies because I find myself missing anything I've gotten rid of, regardless of how long ago it was!

Wow the last green eraser I had to have at school, it was on the list of stationary, school couldn’t buy it so parents had to find, my mum went hunting all over in my town and couldn’t find it anywhere. My Uncle who lived in a small town said oh we have those when we were on a visit at Christmas, mum went down they were on special down from 50cents to 5 cents my mum brought five as she had twenty five cents. My art teacher was supper excited that I found one as she had been looking for them for five years! Lol so about twenty years ago they stopped making those rubber well here in NZ. Mum gave the teacher the other four she was supper happy. Didn’t improve my art mark but still was nice to see her smile. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Brought back so many memories of childhood. My dad was also in architecture and I would use his stuff and still have a lot of his stuff and he literally had everything in this box lmao. The small pens are refillable but I lost several of his somewhere in a house move...I love all his art supplies lol. I just wish we had better art supply stores here in Texas ughhh... Loved this video though! The hard erasers are also sometimes used for erasing pen and marker... Ohhh that marker smell I remember those. I have a whole set he gave me of a ton of markers I never use them cause they smell horrible!!!

Oh my, so much great stuff. would have been fun if you read the price tags for some sticker shock. Clamps and strings and great pens. I wonder if the ones stuck shut are fountain pens with the cartridges? Pretty sure they can be cleaned. Cool stuff

The pens with the cartridges are used for drafting. Look up Kor I Nor pens. There is a fine wire in the tip.
You can soak them and the cartridges in alcohol and clean them. The wire will come out, but hey are very delicate. Don't bend them.
I use my Kor I nor for pen and ink.
That's how I learned.

So fun going through the art supplies! You can use pen cleaner to clean the refillable pens (may have to soak and use a blower to flush the old ink out). Ranger makes an Ink Refresher for water based pens; it can be used on the dry markers if the nib or back is able to be taken out/off so you can drip some in.

Just came across this video and I can relate to using old art supplies as I am currently using mine from HS, class of 91 and art college, class of 1996.

Behold turquoise became Prismacolor eventually, Letraset was bought by Windsor and Newton and they still make alcohol markers! Please do art with 40 year old supplies soon!
