I've had my Porsche Boxster GTS for 9 months now. It was my dream to own a Porsche but has the reality lived up to the dream. What have I learned about the car and are there any things I'm not happy with ?

Love the commentary from a regular, car loving person like yourself. So tired of the wealthy YouTubers with collections of pricey cars. You genuinely appreciate these cars, as opposed to some, who change them like watches.

I wish you many many happy miles.

The gts boxter is quite the sportscar. I like it better than the 911 because it's something meant to be driven daily without reservations or being too pretentious or hard edge. The handling dynamics are so wonderful when you push it and that incredible level of confidence at 9/10ths pace, and that sound with the top down just perfect!

Have just taken delivery of a 2024 Boxster GTS 4.0l Manual here is Aust. (3 weeks old), Love it. Metallic Black, Guards Red Dials and Seatbelts. Extended Aluminium pack with extensive leather and Race Teck interior. Love it. I'd imagine there's not much performance difference between the 4.0 and the 2.5 but would expect the way they make power and the driving experience to be different. Not better or worse just different. Came out of a PDK 981s. The PDK is a brilliant gearbox but the manual just suits the GTS in my opinion!. Only regret is that I went for the 2 way sports seats and not the 18 way sports seats. Just getting in and out is much easier with the 18 way seats. Hope you do get to compare the 4.0l and 2.5l back to back soon.

I test drove a new GTS 4 litre because that's all the dealer had, but really wanted to try a 2.5 (as that's all I was prepared to pay). Two days later I got that opportunity. I've watched so many YT videos on Porsche's and owners preferences/bias, the 911 v anything else, but also the 6 v 4 cylinders. If there's a perceived snob value in the 911 camp then it seems there's also one in the 6 cylinder camp. At the end of the day we choose what we like (within our personal financial limits). For me, I actually preferred the 2.5, (regardless of the cost difference) although I never did drive the 981 2.7 or 3.4 so I'll never know about those. I get my 2.5 later this week 🤗

This is why I love your channel, great car that is appreciated by it’s owner and not some YouTuber flipping numerous brand new shiny cars that all cost telephone numbers.

I Test drove a 2017 718 Boxster about 3 years ago (Background---I was a Mercedes test driver in Stuttgart for 4 years in the early 2000's... owned a BMW 1-Series over there), and the 718 is, of course, phenomenal!

So when Sweetcars got a 2001Boxster S in Seal Gray on consignment, I HAD to pull the trigger--- even with "only" 250 HP from the 3.2-liter SIX, I'm always, Always left with a beaming from grin! AND THE SOUND! Came with Sport Exhaust, and the Symphony from 3500 to 6000 is absolutely addictive!
The extra bits and bobs Porsche puts into the Boxster S are Unmistakable and you won't want to live without them once you've experienced the difference!
This IS POSSIBLY the most pivotal Series for Porsche, since it's inclusion breathed new life into Porsche sales, and possibly saved the company.
It's a piece of Porsche history that cannot be overstated and I never want to give up this car... Only add others! Dream Cars from the Porsche lineup?
997 Turbo S
If I'm ever wealthy, A GT3 Touring.

Love the GTS mate. You have worked tirelessly to get to a position where you can own one and get a lot of enjoyment from it. Bravo!

After 3 years and 21, 000k’s, the 718 S still put a smile on my face. Every drive is an adventure, be it to the local shops or a 350 kilometre trip to Sydney. Like you, the top is the first thing to drop, the weather being a lot sunnier in Australia although once it gets over 26 Celsius, up goes the top and on goes the A/C. I agree with you, Michelin PS4S’s are the best all rounder tyres.

I like the practical vibe you spin on this review. Much more relatable. Dream cars are awesome but this is a real option more attainable by more of us. Thanks for sharing!

When I owned my old 981 Boxster S I had a GTS like yours when it was boing serviced. It was clearly a better car in terms of performance and handling. You could feel subtle improvements everywhere. But when I got my car back, that flat 6 made the experience just better. The 981 Boxster is I think the sweet spot. Get a 981 GTS and you have the best Boxster. I now own a 718 Spyder but because of the OPF the sound has been ruined really. I have a device that stops the valves closing and it helps but still nowhere near the old cars. The Spyder is an amazing car but the soundtrack is missing.

Nice review Pete, so refreshing to get an actual owners opinion. Drive modes in modern cars are amazing, their ability to transform a car is remarkable, the difference between comfort and dynamic in my S4 is like two different cars.

Look forward to seeing the drive tour, I share you mixed emotions about the Nordschleife part of me would love to lap it but another part of me has watched too many crash videos 😬

I have never been a Porsche fan as I am a JLR fan but I can see the attraction and the noise from the Milltek exhaust enhances the experience I am sure.

Great video and review. I still love my 981 S Boxster. These mid engine Porsche really are the sweet spot. Looking forward to this years driving season.

Great video. Good to see a video that doesn’t trash the 2.5L 718 GTS.

I purchased a 718 Cayman S last year. Due to production constraints, here in the US I was able to get the S model way earlier than a GTS. In fact, I would probably still be waiting for a GTS allocation.

Getting the S allowed for some different exterior and interior options not available on the GTS.

Performance-wise, the 2.5L power band is much lower in the rev range - and therefore much more usable - than the 4.0L six.

Sound difference? Meh, insignificant to me. The four sounds fine in sport mode.

Having come from a MK III Audi TT RS, that five cylinder spoiled me for life. Neither the 2.5L or 4.0L Porsche engines come close to the Audi sound-wise.

always good to see a satisfied owner, who bought for the right reasons...

Great to see a more detailed appraisal of your 2.5 GTS and how much your enjoying the experience.
