I love the idea where you can control one unit and control it as first-person shooting mode. I used to imagine that before, if there is gonna be an RTS game that u can macro manage and at the same time allows you to fully control one unit in first person mode. Now just came into reality!

Just wait for the next mission. I just tried it today. It really shines a light on the glaring flaws of the vehicle combat system in this game. Why they changed it from Men of War I have no idea. I got this game a few weeks ago and I've been loving it, but the tank combat is just horrible because of their atrocious new damage model.

I had a situation where 4 - *4* - tanks shot at an enemy tank all at the same time spending *50+ rounds* total on it, both AP and HEAT (I made sure they weren't firing HE) and the tank was *still* operational. They were making the hits. The indicator was giving a green number when I direct controlled them. The tank was able to shoot back so it was certainly in range. It just would not get destroyed. It only stopped shooting back because the AoE from all of my own tanks' shots eventually dug a hole out from under it that made its nose tip down so far it couldn't actually aim up to shoot mine. The entire thing was just absurd. Like a comedy sketch, except I wasn't laughing after the first twenty ineffective shots. To top it all off? I shot it with 5 or 6 ATGM's and still had no effect. It was just a T72 too!

Love the game, but the damage models for armored vehicles is just horrid. You were able to see some of it in this video here, but it really is highlighted in the next mission. They seriously need to go back to the drawing board on it. They tried to combine the crit-based damage system from Men of War with more traditional HP-based damage systems into some kind of hybrid, and it just leaves you with the worst of both systems. The HP means that tank combat feels sluggish and unsatisfying, and the leftover crit system means that you *still* get tracked the moment you engage with the enemy and have to retrack the same vehicle 20 times per mission.
