Gary Schocker is regarded as one of the greatest flutists and flute composers of his generations. He has won numerous competitions including the Young Concert Artists, the National Flute Association. Schocker teaches at New York University and in his private studios in his homes in New York City and in Easton, Pennsylvania. Schocker has also written music for almost every orchestral instrument, and his work has received multiple recognitions from the National Flute Association. Many of his compositions have become part of the standard repertoire for the flute, earning their place on repertoire lists for competitions and recitals all over the world.
Regrets and Resolutions was commissioned for the 80th birthday of Mortimer Levitt, a former Board member of the Young Concert Artists. Since it was published, this piece has been arranged for flute and orchestra and has been performed all over the world in a multitude of venues.
“I wrote the Regrets imagining what it might be like to look back over 80 years? What if I'd made different choices? What if ...? The Resolutions is a forward-thinking movement, very energetic and positive, except for a brief looking-
back, questioning, after which the music plunges back into the rhythmic finale.” – Gary Schocker
