Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduces us to Professor Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, returning to Marvel films after Logan (2017) and X-Men Days of Future Past (2014). With a few key connections to Days of Future Past, could that movie's restored timeline ending be the same reality as the 838 universe in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Erik Voss breaks down some major details you missed in Multiverse of Madness, and the biggest loose ends that remain from the Fox X-Men universe!

Deadpool isn't crazy. He can see through the multiverse. When he looks at and talks to camera he's talking to our universe. That's why he knows the actors.
And the characters timelines too.

Surprised nobody has considered seeing Fantastic 4, Inhumans, or Xmen in the next season of What If?. Wouldn't that be such an easy way to explain so much without having to spend so much?

Professor Charles Xavier: Just because someone stumbles and loses their way it doesn't mean they are lost forever. We all need a little help sometimes. I LOVE THESE WORDS. THEY MOTIVATE ME EVERYDAY.

Days of Future Past is not just the best film in foX-Men franchise but also one of the best comic book movies ever made.

To me, it's pretty clear that the 838 universe is just a separate universe from the FOX X-Men movies. They just used Patrick Stewart because he's great in the role. Also, Xavier using the same line in Doctor Strange 2 that the Xavier in Days of Future Past used is more akin to Defender Strange using the same "In the grand calculus of the multiverse..." line that 616 Strange used in No Way Home. It was also a fun nod/Easter egg, but very clearly not some major quote like "With great power..."

That would be an interesting move if Marvel Studios decided to tell the story between the end of Days of Future Past and Logan (2023-2029). By opening up the multiverse, the playing field has gotten much much larger.

The formation of alternate timelines is actually only possible by Endgame's time travel logic - where the existing timeline is not changed. Going by X-Men or Back to the Future logic, there are no alternate timelines, hence no TVA is going to be there. This also creates problem for Kang as it would limit what he can do. If he does something in the past, there are chances it might change the course of history and prevent his existence. But by alternate timeline logic, Kang has free reign to do anything he wants. No one can stop him by preventing him from existing. Because he will always have existed, no matter what you do. So I think that the MCU rules are better.

Earth-838 is an awesome place. Mutants, Inhumans, Avengers, illuminati, F4, X-men & Brotherhood of Mutants in it. hot damn.

I'd always viewed Charles and Logan's exchange at the end of DoFP as Charles reading his mind and suddenly understanding all that Logan had been through.

Now I hope an incursion with the 616 universe happens and we get to see the X-men again

So basically Wolverine "DREAMWALK" in X-Men days of future past 🤯🤯

The timeline at the end of Days of Futures Past is the same timeline of Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Charles remembers Logan because that’s the same Charles from the 70s, just older. I assume Logan would take place in that timeline as well.

I believe the Professor X in MoM is a variant of the animated Professor X. I don’t think they would kill off the exact character from the series, considering it’s being revived.

One question that looms to me as well is that: is Dr. Strange using the Book ofthe Darkhold to beat Thanos not part of the 1, 000, 605 possibilities he's seen?

I mean one can argue that this was the plan all along when the Multiverse era commenced, right? There was enough tangible framework from the previous Fox and Sony movies to incorporate them into Marvel canon. I'd like to think so. It's only about how far they'd go creatively to bring it in.

I can’t believe you just said Days of Future Past handled time travel logic better than Endgame did. It was more ENTERTAINING for a movie, but Endgame was more LOGICAL. They based it off of real theories, whereas DOFP was based off of a more-traditional movie time travel logic.

Erik needs to write a dissertation and give it to Disney. “The Mutant Problem in the MCU: How to successfully Integrate X-Men into Marvel Cinematic Continuity”

Ive said since it came out essentially. That Logan takes place during the blip. Thanos in their universe won, and they were never able to undo it like the 1 in 14, 000, 605 chances in our 616 world.

838 and 616 are identical in people’s features, names, identities so you cant have a 616 Aaron Taylor Johnson as Pietro Maximoff and Elizabeth Olsen’s twin brother then have Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff as Peter Maximoff.

Some instances and fates may have differences between the two universes but not the identities. Hayley Atwell is Peggy Carter, Olsen is Wanda Maximoff, Cumberbatch is Strange on both universes. All is sealed.

I always thought Logan takes place after the ending of days of future past, when Logan goes back to see he saved everyone in that peaceful future.
