Back from Scotland! We spent some time in Edinburgh before taking a camper van into the highlands. I can see why the locale was the inspiration behind many fantasy worlds, it really was magical. I'm working on a small short film that captures the essence of our time there, keep an eye out for it over the next number of weeks!

I am underpaid and overworked, all through the pandemic I was at the office. I stopped going to happy hours and the boss got offended thinking I don't like anyone, I said straight up it's a waste of time.
He gave me this side eye look.
They can all eat these nuts.

Every single person is already worthy of respect without a job. It took a lot of propaganda to get us to the point where our entire lives are tied into working for a company to survive, but this mindset is dead wrong and leads to mental and physical illness.
Food grows out of the ground and water falls from the sky, we can build a system that over complicates the simple act of living, but we can't simplify life's free and basic resources to provide enough fresh food and clean drinking water for everyone?? Maybe.... working our current meaningless jobs is the exact action that takes away our ability and energy to build a smart system that works WITH nature to provide these resources with minimal work, pollution and wasted energy.

For example: We have Walmarts every 5 miles but we have 0 Walmart sized greenhouses to grow fresh local food with....

YES, YES AND YES! you couln´t have put it in better words, I completely Identify with you. Once you realized you simply cannot stand being in a traditional job life and cannot tolerate other people determining your time and future, you just know for a fact you are in the wrong place. It is really hard to express this to the average person because most people are okay living that life, and they even perceive you as being ungrateful for thinking that way, they simply don´t get it, most people don´t even think there is a different way of living available.

Love that you are tackling these complex topics for people in this sphere of life. Not everyone would truly enjoy the freedom that being a builder involves, but those of us who do can't help but be dissatisfied with the alternative.

I worked Corporate Amerika, the Army and manual labor of 45 years before I was able to retire. I strongly support and encourage anyone who does not want to do that.

A job is just a way for many people to show they are worthy of respect. If you can show you are worthy of respect without a job, good on you.

A job is a social construct that ties your self-worth to an external entity that takes your energy, time and effort in exchange for currency that inevitably loses its value from inflation over time. And that currency you exchange your life force for, you are taxed even further on before it's even given to you. That's where a job and purpose differ. Having purpose goes deeper. That's why every human being searches for it. If you give that energy, time and effort to a purpose, the return is far greater. We all need money to survive though, so be strategic about this. The rat race is not an easy escape but it can be done with love, awareness, patience and creativity.

100% agree. The way I've thought about this recently is to find a way to position yourself adjacent to big problems that demand solutions. For example, I started out as an end user of a software system but have learnt how to implement it for organisations because the money is better doing this.

This ties in with your recent video about leverage too. The sooner we develop skills that pay well, the sooner we can detach from full time work to focus on things that matter to us.

Really enjoying your videos these days. I appreciate you noting at the end that there's nothing wrong with being anywhere in the hierarchy - I think what matters; our concious choice to be where we are, and if we don't want to be there, actively moving towards a place we desire to be. I think it's hard to let go of the societal / familial expectations, but in the end, our own contentment and feeling of meaning in our own lives is what matters most imo. Here's to us all finding that, however it may look!

If I learned anything in getting my degree in philosophy, it is that 1. there are no answers, only questions, and 2. the meaning of life is exactly what you make it.

It's safe to say that the last 3 years caused a semisic shift in introversion perspective for all to actually look up from their cubicles, their phones, and computers and ask themselves what exactly are they fucking doing with their life and whether should they continue to do what they are doing right now with all the madness going on? What appeared to be a "doomsday" event got people asking the hard questions finally that not many ever get to really do properly and because of that, here we are. People like you now exist in creating content as such for people like me who are also in the same boat. Although my goals don't quite align fully with yourself, one thing is clear, I woke up and I am not going back to the old ways I did.

What about "no one wants to get married and have kids"? Is that the current state of our society?

My greatest concern is how to recover from all these economic and global troubles and stay afloat especially with the political power tussle going on in US.

Congrats on your journey I remember watching your video about leaving your corporate job year ago you had less than 50k subs. I'm in the same boat to transition into my own business and inspired by your story and coverage of this topic.
