I have never heard two technically different amps sound more similar.
If you would have told me it was just one amp playing the entire time, I'd have believed you.

I own both and something is wrong here. Unlike me, I hear it a lot. 4 6l6 have a lot more headroom and in any case the sound is quite different. This comparison is not valid and I say it having them both at hand.

It's so messed up. I love the sound of the Mesa Mark amps, but can never get into it when playing them myself. Then again I can't EQ them in properly no doubt but they sound so bad ass, just not for my playing perhaps. Killer demo though!

They sound identical. I had a IV and a V at one point and the IV blew the V out of the water so not sure what's going on here.

I played a Mark IV from 1990 for 25 years with both 6L6's and EL34's, and I then got a Mark 5:25. They can sound about the same, but I prefer the 5:25 because you can really drive those EL84's.
