Fun fact about Wigan; There's a small racing circuit there (mainly for go karts, but they do have the odd car track day) called Three Sisters Circuit and the cafe does the best salt and pepper chips I've ever eaten. I'm spending £90 per track day and I almost look forward to the chips more than sending the car around it

Big in NZ too. Surprised I haven't seen one in the comments. Should be mentioned, it wasn't always one pie, or in between two pieces of bread. Hollowing out half a loaf, put two+ pies in and with or without sauce, thats how it'd be done.

That pie looks heavenly. The bread looks quality, and with a bit of butter spread on, I'd eat it all.
For us Americaners criticizing the bun-over-crust idea, please remember that we eat buns over breaded fish, breaded chicken, and breaded pork loins. The buns are nasty, too.
