How to Pay Attention with ADHD, Focus and Concentrate [Stay Focused Naturally] School Class Study

================
Video Takeaways
================

So today I wanted to talk about how you can start right now to increase your ability to focus, improve your memory, and learn more information much more rapidly.

Remember that we have a conscious mind and a subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind is the most powerful tool that we have. It holds all memory and is responsible for your ability to do automatic actions. This includes breathing and hearing. At the macro level this includes walking and driving. You do these things now without thinking about it.

Remember that at one point you didn't know how to walk or drive. You had to consciously be paying attention to everything that was going on in order to stay focused while you were learning that new skill.

Now that these skills have been ingrained into your subconscious mind, you can not only do them without thinking about it, but you can also do other things such as listen to an audio book while running. You are consciously paying attention to one (learning from the audio book) and subconsciously doing the second activity (running). This is the only time when I would recommend someone to multitask.

If you are doing two conscious activities such as texting someone while attempting to listen to your teacher in class, you won't go as much information to stick in you long term memory, because your conscious mind is being divided.

Your conscious performs best when it's entire attention is being placed on one task.

Remember that as you go about your day today. Pay attention when you are multi-tasking and see how much more information you are able to learn by cutting off of doing two or more conscious mind concentration activities.

If you go to school and are in class, practice this while doing your homework, reading, or listening to a teacher teach the lesson, I guarantee that you will see yourself getting better grades just by consciously paying attention to one thing at a time.

i was initially looking for learning techniques but stumbled upon this video, good stuff.
i'm a translator and i can say, you never stop learning even when you're out of school. you always have to learn new stuff for your job.
the more you learn, the more you know in your field, the more successful you'll be, and the more you'll earn. plus, you'll be able to finish your work in less time, which will give you more free time.

You might have Audio Processing Disorder (APD). It has similar symptoms of ADD, but is not commonly diagnosed. Check it out.

I don't know if I have ADD or not but when I'm working I sometimes randomly think about what could happen if or what happened in the past that has nothing to do what the teacher is doing.

Awesome topic and teacher, but music is not necessary and highly distracting, and please, S - L - O - W down. When you introduce new concepts, it takes listeners a while to register it, which is hard to do when listening to a speaker speaking 100 mph (and with music in background.) Thanks for this very useful info...keep them coming

As an architectural designer who has to obviously think of loads of differing elements and how they all come together, this is EPIC! My biggest downfall after graduating is exactly this! My inability to focus on the task in hand as i have already programmed myself to think of a multitude of things at once. I would think of so many things at once that i would put myself down and not even apply for jobs. This will help so much now, and allow me to block out even negative factors and to only focus on the task in hand 100%. Thank you. I hope to update you, telling you i have landed my dream job in the near future.

you spent around 6 mins repeating your point that we need to put concentration on a task that requires your conscious mind. You basically just gave one point in the whole video. please stop waffling and get to point.
