Highlights of ASHP's Pharmacy Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI2030) | Eric Maroyka, ASHP

The time for an overhaul of the health-system pharmacy (and the pharmacists role in it) has come and the industry's foremost authority, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), has issued a formal Pharmacy Practice Advancement Initiative with just-shy-of-sixty recommendations for setting the profession up for success. Called the PAI2030, the set of strategies addresses nearly every aspect of the hospital pharmacy practice of the future: from integrating technology and population health approaches to redefining the pharmacist's role in a coordinated care team. We caught up with Eric Maroyka, the Director of the Center for Pharmacy Practice Advancement at ASHP to hear the highlights and get his recommendations about where hospitals should start.
