I visited the Best and Worst-Rated Video Game Stores in Florida to see if their online ratings were really accurate. Should I do this again in another state?

Hey! Chris here, owner of Ready. Set. Game! Thanks for stopping by and checking us out and thanks for the great review/shout out here! (Also, thanks to all the kind people in the comments!) It's pretty surreal to see my shop being known by so many people. We've been around for 7 and a half years now and not in my wildest dreams did I think we'd have so many people from all over who not only have been to the store, but loved it so much! It's an honor and it's humbling.

Please come by anytime and hang out when you're around. We can maybe do some videos together, podcast, whatever. My life is gaming and I'm down for it!

Thanks again for stopping by and I'm so glad you loved the store!

Keeping his personal collection out in the open like that must be a massive insurance risk. Not very wise.

The “in process of repricing” pretty much screams they want to charge exactly market all the time. Stores around me never sticker and always just price check online solds.

I think Phoenix missed the point on the negative reviews of store number 1, the reason it was so well stocked was due to the owner having his personal collection out and charging at or above market price for almost everything available . It’s easy to have to have lots of inventory if no one is willing to pay the price you want to sell it for.

The first store looked way worse than the other 2. Mall stores you would expect to be small. The first store looked like everything was in a glass case, so you easily browse their selection, and you should never have products in a store that aren't for sale. Imagine going to McDonald's and seeing a big mac advertisement but it's not for sale

I was at video game galaxy once, this one cool thing they do is that if you show them what your grades in school are, they can give you some store credit depending how good your grades are. Because of that, I got The Simpsons Road Rage and Gran Turismo completely for free.

"They had an amazing funko pop collection"

That takes off a star or two in my book.

I was in ready set game AND video game Galaxy just the other week!

Video game galaxy had prices more then I wanted to pay, but EVERYTHING is tested and that’s a huge seller.

Ready set game is actually near where my grandparents live and it’s nice

I loved my time in both stores here

The only thing is if they know who you are of course they’re gonna be nice to you. It’s the unknown people who get treated bad.

Why would you display your own stuff in your store and not at home and safe? Weird flex for real

I don’t know I think I would be extremely annoyed if half the items at the store I’m looking at are for a personal collection and then the other half aren’t priced. And a lot of stores do that so they have a reason to up charge on prices when you ask making it very difficult to know what you’re spending seems pretty shady.

I ain’t paying EBay prices in the wild if I can sit on my ass and get it sent to my house for the same price. I understand some people have to make money and don’t want to undercut themselves but you have to give people a reason to travel to your stores

I think if you have your personal stuff in the shop, curate it. I go to a couple toy stores that have museum quality displays and dioramas of their personal collections and it makes the visit more fun in my opinion.

Personal collections shouldnt be in a store. A few things that arent for sale is fine (large display items like the statues in Rick's store) but presentation doesnt matter if a large amount can't be purchased.

Unbelievable that stores actually advertise that they are selling fake inventory. The penalty in fines and possible jail time clearly isn't worth the risk. My neighbor was caught selling fake northface inventory several years ago. He had all of his inventory taken, vehicle/trailer impounded, $10k in fines and spent some time in jail.

That first place is more accurately a museum. The owner should really be more up-front about everything.

The Rogaine is 100% working. I've noticed it looking fuller in the more recent vids man.

There's a very infamous store in my state, Michigan, that is routinely lauded as one of the worst game stores ever. To even get inside the store and shop, they take a photo copy of your license/ID. The store is also cash-only, they sell repros as real games, and also they don't actually follow their price tags. They literally have a sign on the counter saying "We reserve the right to modify/change/adjust any/all pricing labels and stickers". They also ink-stamp consoles, and discs for "their protection plan". It's insane.
