Can Elon Musk revolutionize travel as we know it? With his groundbreaking Hyperloop concept, Elon envisions passenger pods zipping through low-pressure tubes at speeds faster than a Boeing 747—transforming transportation forever.

In this video, we dive into the ambitious story behind the Hyperloop: its origins, the science behind vacuum trains, and how Elon’s bold claims, like a $20 billion Transatlantic tunnel connecting New York to London in under an hour, captured the world’s imagination. But is the Hyperloop a visionary leap forward—or just a futuristic pipe dream?

Explore the rise and fall of Hyperloop startups, the challenges of creating a human-ready system, and how real-world transportation solutions like the Shanghai Maglev are already leaving a lasting mark.

From the visionary concepts of the past to Elon’s modern-day Hyperloop Alpha paper, join us on this thrilling ride through history, science, and skepticism. Will the Hyperloop ever become a reality, or is it destined to remain a sci-fi fantasy?

There's more chance of humans walking to mars than this happening.

20 billion dollars would make about a mile of this tunnel.

It’s more possible for the first astronauts to land on planet mars and build a small colony station with oxygen than build a long tunnel travel system between NYC and London under the Atlantic ocean.

The only reason why hyper loop can't exist yet is because people dont vacuum seal the chambers for the hyper loop capsule, and they still use rails when they should be using levitated electromagnetic capsules instead, and you can't have physical touch with the capsule and chamber or else it will be too slow

Well as a physics majors in Geophysics I wouldn't negate this fact because while still in the university I remember this kind of topic was a debated topic in the class then.
If you understand the core structure of the earth layers, then I can say that the fastest way of traveling is truly through the inner layer of the earth structure.
I believe this is what Elon is trying to initiate and all I can say is kudos and until the world is taken over through knowledge we won't rest.
Physics makes things easy

The scariest idea for me is the "vacuum tube"

Bring back supersonic air travel. With todays technology, London to new York. Around 3 hours.

He literally said this was a front to prevent high speed rail funding. It’s not gonna happen. And take it from a vacuum engineer - a vacuum system that size is both impractical and dangerous

There was never any intention to get the Hyperloop running. It just went against M.'s grain that there were federal states that wanted to expand rapid rail transport. He wanted to prevent that so that people would continue to drive cars and buy his Teslas. In California, they fell for it.

I looked at this along time ago... The plate configuration will not allow a tunnel under the Atlantic. There lies a device half way, so that when the p!ate under the US shifts with the European plate the tunnel would crack.

Elon stands up as this amazing inventor but a huge number of people do the actual work of making it happen.

"a daring claim on Twitter". Don't you mean X? Elon's going to be very unhappy that you're dead naming his toys.

Better factor in sabotage by hostile countries with ships that might like to do "tunnelus interuptus"

I would hardly say Elon is clueless. He is brilliant to say the least

He will be very happy he is already it is only one day bad but now he already are other man full of strength and very happy . No needs more talking about past, you go ahead everyone goes ahead happy New Year for everyone .

That means there can be 0 friction inside of a tube. There doesn't have three friction inside of the hyperloop.. Accept possibly particle friction, which could be worked on particle in the air.We have molecules.

The tunnels being fully evacuated will make traveling faster than the speed of sound easily achievable so the simple answer is yes it should be faster than a plane!

Why isn't he Boring this entire tunnel underground? Easier to maintain vacuum, reduce maintenance requirements created by the elements, eliminate land acquisition costs. Of course having it above ground would facilitate inclusion of solar panels to power it but I think benefits of subterranean tunnel outweigh that benefit.
