I always thought you were supposed to drink when thirsty, eat when hungry and sleep when tired !!

I remember that marketing for this 8 cups a day began about 30 years ago. That is when "spring water" began to be sold en masse in plastic bottles. The "spring" is just tap water that is filtered. The problem with filtering water that goes into plastic is that it leaches more BPA/BPF/BPS from the plastic.

"Drink when you're thirsty" is great advice. The insane trend to overhydrate the body needs to be challenged.

Everyone always think they have an answer for everything. Somethings is personal choice. And everyone’s body and situations are different. Everyone has to do what is good for them.

This is a great video, thanks for sharing. At first I was skeptical but a while back, but ever since I started drinking water based on listening to my body( def less than 8 cups), my digestion and edema improved.

WOW I was so happy to come across this video. Throughout my entire life, and i will be 76 next month, i was never really thirsty. I never liked water either. I pretty much drink just for the taste. I love Coke and Iced Tea. I drink a small bottle of water per day. I never had a problem with dehydration. Isn't it weird how i am very rarely thirsty?

Thanks for the advice, I did realize that 8 cups of water is a little too much as advised by others. Drink only when thirsty makes a lot of sense.

I've just read cellodiva's comment below. I HAVE vomited from drinking too much water ! Having watched Alex Hui's excellent video, I've subscribed. I would like to make a couple of points : Some years ago I was visiting our local doctor; I told him that I only drink coffee & tea.
He quite rightly, told me off & said ' The blood going through your arteries is like soup.' Do you want it to be thick soup or thin soup ? I now drink water, and just the occasional cup pf tea or coffee. I am a very fit 79 year old, I was getting up 2 or three times at at night to urinate. I now drink nothing after 6.30 p.m. Now I am getting only up only once to urinate. I hope this will help other older people.

I remember when ecstasy was the popular recreational drug of the time. Users were told to be careful of dehydration and to drink as much water as possible. A couple of people died not from the ecstasy tablet but from the amount of water they consumed which caused brain damage and organs to fail.

I didn't hear you mention body weight, but obviously a person with more mass (height and weight) typically requires more water. Thanks for the video.

But if you live in the Philippines specially during summer...you really need that 8 cups of water or even more

Because of the "test" results of egfr "they" say that I have stage 3 kidney disease and told to drink 80 ounces of water/day by my PCP! Glad I found this. I'm drinking so much water that there's not much room left for food. I'm exercising a lot...running to the toilet! 🤣

Animals don't drink more water than they need. Why don't scientists try to think about it?

I drink more then 8 everyday for years because of gout, I learned from playing sports and the military if you wait until you're thirsty it's too late and you'll be chasing your tail to get hydrated
