What funny laws does your country have?

As a Singaporean, chewing gum is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 illegal in Singapore, but the 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲, as well as the 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 of it 𝗶𝘀 against the law. So, we regularly acquire our gum from overseas, in neighbouring countries, like Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. You’re all good, no need to worry☺️

As a singaporean, I believe there is a saying that most of us follow. It’s “do but don’t get caught”

I'm Singaporean. The laws are there to deter anti social behaviour for the sake of others. It isn't always enforced - but gives the authorities the right to do so if you really push it without consideration for others. The laws are well-intentioned for the general public and to prevent accidents (e.g. jaywalking on a busy road)

Chewing gum isn't illegal in Singapore. The sale of gum is. This was enforced a long time back as people were sticking their gum in odd places that caused damage to public property and, tbh, was really gross for others. A small loss for a bigger gain.

I lived in SG. Trust me, these laws aren’t enforced super often. They’re mostly there to deter behavior.

It's not illegal to chew gum in Singapore, it's only illegal to sell it which means you can bring some from overseas.

As someone who lived in Singapore for 3 years... I shivered. You are not in the danger zone... you are the danger.

1. Those are protected/military installations. Trespassing will probably get you arrested.

2. It's not really enforced

3. It's not illegal to have it with you. It's just illegal to bring in and/or sell.

Jaywalking in itself isn’t illegal in Singapore

There are two of those signs about 50 meters away from a crosswalk, both pointing towards the crosswalk. This means in that area, you’re not allowed to jaywalk, as your too close to the crosswalk. However your allowed to if your outside of that area

Ik it’s kinda confusing but that’s how it works
