Why would any go with a derailleur in 2024? I've had enough oil on my shoes! In my opinion derailleurs are redundant technology. I read a study about efficiency and reality is that in perfect conditions derailleurs are 1% more efficient (98%) than belt drive (97%), but in any other conditions or if you haven't oiled your chain that week belt drive overtakes in efficiency.

Combine that with quality of life improvements, I really believe in 2030 all bikes & ebikes will either be belt drive or shaft drive and derailleurs will be associated with the cheapest segment of the market.
